I MUST try out that Spring Yellow color!

I haven't really done much with filter mixing. This should be interesting...

It's pretty awesome what you can come up with. Smiley

For example take AB and the Dark Green Lee Filter and you get this nice minty green color. It's not very bright, but it sure is pretty.

Here's the other green for comparison. Smiley

I just came across a neat filter effect by accident. I put the "Spring Yellow" filter into my GB Anakin Stunt with UE Blade, and when I turned it on it was a really beautiful turquoise color. When I swung the saber, the color changed back to the original Guardian Blue. I quickly realized that, because the blade is sanded-to-fit, it doesn't go all the way down to the LED, which leaves room for the filter to move around. So now I have an Anakin Stunt saber that changes from Turquoise(during Idle) to Guardian Blue(on Clash).  Grin

So now you get a Flash on Clash without a FoC LED? Cool!  Cheesy

I ordered a swatch book and i'm gonna have some fun mixin colors.  Some questions though.

May i post any discoveries here?
And (possibly noobish)
Is there any possibility of these filters melting on a LED? Due to prolonged exposure?

Feel free to post new color mixes that haven't been posted yet. As for melting, I don't know the answer to that. Although some of the filters are designated as "High Temp" so maybe those are the safest to use. Maybe someone else has better insight to this matter.

Its a gamble.  Dont know if anyone is willing to risk some permanent color changing and experiment by leaving a filtered LED on.  Because i know they supply color discs and those are thick, so i'm sure they wont melt, but isnt the lee fliters just flimsy film?

Maybe some of the Masters or even the dudes at US might shed some light on this.  Clouded the future is, by the dark side of the force.

It's really hard to say to be honest. I haven't had any issues with mine as of yet though. Smiley

Interesting idea.  I have an old PVC Dominix in silver that I could try that with, I'll let ya know how it goes.

My guess, from my understanding of the technology, would be that it will not melt.  The heat sink for the LED should keep it from getting too hot on there - plus it's not like anyone leaves their saber on for hours on end anyway.  You'd tear through batteries like crazy that way!

Wondered cause i've done the deed of actually looking down the emitter as i switched it on, and felt some heat right away!  Then i lost vision for a few secs then all was well.

When my dad and used to do sound and lighting for different events, the filters we would use were incredibly similar, if not the same brand, to these. We would hook the filters into these giant spotlights that generated enough heat to roast a full sized turkey and never a single one warped or melted.

Filters like these were originally designed for spotlights and large stage lights that used krypton bulbs, so they had to withstand the enormous heat that the large bulbs created. So no, the filters should not melt.

Do what I do depending on if your saber is something that has MHS style parts just take the emitter off and take a permanent marker and trace the circumference of the MLS. Then cut it out. It will fit snug and it won't be too small. Smiley
