I just recently got a saber, well, two, yesterday. It worked well and fine for about one day, then I pressed the button the next, amd it stuck in. The blade won't turn on, and the button won't pop up. Is this a common issue? And any help fixing it? Kind of a newbie here.

contact support at [email protected]

post pictures if you can just so we can actually see what you are talking about, and finally no this isnt really a common issue that I have seen in my weeks here. I have seen one other button issue the last few weeks. but i could have missed something.

The only thing you can do short of buying a replacement button and installing it yourself, is contact support and request a repair. I can not speak for anything else.

Alright, I think I figured out the issue. The button got pushed through the hol. I pulled the battery a bit to get it inside the hilt. I have sodering tools here. Could it be possible to cut the wires, take the button out, pull the wires through the button hole, and re attach them to the button and shove it back in?

here is the deal friend,  yes, a home repair is possible and completely doable if you are good with it, but any modifications to your pre-made saber will void the warranty.

I recommend that you do this only if:
a. you are comfortable with that level of repair
b. do not wish to ship it back
c. do not mind voiding the warranty
or
d. have had it for a year and your warranty is up.

Myself, I would just ship it back, you have the limited warranty for the next 362 days, make use of it if you have the need.

however if you wish to attempt this repair yourself, then you are free to do so and i wish you the best of luck. BUT, if the button was press through the hole, then I am unsure how rewiring the same button would fix the issue.

Is that how the warrenty works? Well, I think I found the issue anyway, but I'll keep it in mind. Won't think I'll need any soldering anyway. Pulled the core out a bit, so I think I'll just either put it back if I need to ship it, or try and get the button aligned by tying wire around it and pulling it through the button hole to get it in. Does simply taking the core out void the warranty if I can just put it back in? I don't need to mess with the electronics I think.

We provide a full one year limited warranty for any failures resulting from defective craftsmanship. That pretty much covers the entire “guts” of all our sabers as well as the construction of our custom sabers. The warranty is not transferable! If a customer sells/trades their saber to someone else, the warranty will not go with it. We keep records of every transaction.
Items covered:
FX Saber Conversions:
      Faulty LED lighting system
      Faulty internal hardware/wiring
      Blade film quality issue
Any faulty non-stock part/process that Ultra Sabers performs as part of the conversion process.
Ultra Customs
      Faulty LED lighting system
      Faulty internal hardware/wiring
      Blade film quality issue
      Our custom sound board/speaker failure
Items NOT covered:
FX Saber Conversions:
Cosmetic defects from the original vendor’s craftsmanship
      Stock sound board failure
Failure that can be traced to an attempt at overdriving the LED lighting system (This is easy since the sound board will fry before the LED does)
Failure that can be identified as obvious physical neglect. (If the saber looks like you were dueling with the opposite end)
Water submersion (It's a saber, not a torpedo)
Ultra Saber Custom Lightsabers:
Any failure that results from customer disassembling their custom saber
Wiring failure resulting from “twisted” wires inside the hilt. (Custom sabers only)
      Water submersion
Failure that can be identified as obvious physical neglect
      Damage resulting from general abuse

read this. its fairly specific so read carefully and completely. use the link if you want to see it on the page but that is a full copy and paste for you. Pulling the insides out slightly doesn't void anything, however the repair you want to do would as you have to modify the original configuration to do so.

I think I'm in the same boat as you are.. It seems as though there isn't a retaining ring inside for the LED module to sit down on, So when you push the blade in, It pushes the LED module against the switch. Mine got stuck in while it was turned on and after removing the batteries and looking inside, It looks like the plastic body of the switch had snapped..

This is the view from the emitter.

This is where it snapped..

I plan on upgrading a lot of things to my saber so It's not a huge deal. a minor annoyance until I get around to fixing it. I'll probably be repairing it myself and buying extras. The plastic is putting me off. Wish the switch was metal but meh. I also plan on putting some connectors on the battery pack and LED module to make repairs/upgrades easy.

Sad part is I didn't really do much at all with the saber yet. It's mainly been sitting around since I've bought it. I've picked it up a few times swinging it about. but no heavy or even light contact for that matter.

I might find someone to machine a small aluminum disk to screw into the inside to keep the LED module from slamming down on the switch. A few small set screws to hold the disk in place, and problem should be solved. I would of thought a ledge like this would be machined into the hilt itself already.

If you have the skills and don't mind voiding the warranty. I'd say go for fixing it yourself. I'm not sure on their turn around for repairs. But to me I feel it'd just be faster to do it myself.

it would save you shipping time.  my repair arrived at the shop a 4:45pm and was fixed and ready to ship the same day barely an hour later. I am just waiting on fedex.

your switch should be held in place with a nut or washer like thing. if you want a different button then get another and do it to it.

I would send it back, it sounds like you are within the warranty.

The guarded switches are press fit, meaning there are no nuts or glue holding it in. Looks like you got a bunk switch or it broke while they were pressing it in.

I just gutted a stunt saber last night and have some pics here http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=26156.15. The stunt set up is pretty simple. I had to cut the switch off to get the rest to come out but it was simple enough.

Replacing that switch should be pretty easy if you have any soldering skills. I'm not sure if they'll send you a new one or if you'll have to buy one since it looks like you've voided the warranty at this point. You can try emailing [email protected] and see what they say. If they won't give you a new one, they are pretty cheap.

Good Luck to you.
