When i get a hilt i want to make it my own.  I was thinking of doing a thick string or cloth cord grip.  I was going to michine in the holes an loop that cord through for a grip.  So my question is ware would i cut the holes for it and is there any grip you guys use?

Its not needed to drill holes in your saber for a good chord wrap. I have seen a few good ways of doing this. The way I do it is a simple x pattern with a knot at the end. Its pretty simple to do and doesnt take that long. It takes a few tries to get the pattern to line up so it looks good and is tight enough so it wont move around.
One way a friend of mine did it was using a strip of leather around 2-3 of the saber and then but holes in the strip and used chord to form a pattern to hold the strip together. looks very sleek.
Also using pvc is a great way to add touches to a saber without spending to much money.

Baseball bat and tennis racket grips also work well for grips.

I've used both some rubber power strip stuff from a cheap home lighting kit (It's adhesive backed! woot! lol) and some old backpack cord with superglue and both have worked very well.

If you would like pictures of my saber hilt I can send you some.

I used a glue that my wife uses for fabric.

It sticks very well and doesn't damage the hilt It's called

E6000 and I believe you can get it at any michaels or Jo Anns craft stores.
