I've just downloaded the Ultrasabers Launcher for my Obsidian V4 sound board, followed the steps on how to upload new sound fonts to the saber (which I followed to the letter), and now my saber won't start up at all. I've removed the USB cable from both my saber and my laptop, removed the batteries from the saber and re-installed them, and still nothing. Pressing the A/V switch momentarily, or holding it down does nothing. If you have this kind of problem every time you upload sound fonts, I don't think I'll be getting another saber with Obsidian V4, I think I'll just stick to Basic sound, this is really frustrating, and very disappointing

First thing to do would be to e-mail US & let them walk you through bro. This wouldn't be a problem every time sound fonts are uploaded I would think. Hit them up & hopefully it's a minor issue. Good luck with getting your saber back on track

When you put the batteries back in the saber, do you at least hear the boot sound?

Nope, no sound at all, and the batteries can't be flat, as I only got the saber 2 days ago, and haven't really used it up until now when trying to upload the sound fonts.

It could be the wire which connects to the battery.. Mine snapped in the normal process of removing and reinserting the speaker/battery pack. There is a light blue cable for the power from the battery.

I had this problem once, and discovered that I hadn't followed the directions correctly. From US:

Again, please be sure your batteries are fully charged before using the Launcher.  Then follow these steps when connecting your saber to your computer.  Make sure the saber is turned on and then, while the saber is already on, plug it into your computer with a Mini USB cable.  Then run the program and when you run the program please right click it and select "Run as administrator"
Then when you go to upload the soundfonts if you are using the v3 launcher please make sure that you fill each soundbank (boot, power on, power off, etc) yourself, do not leave whatever was in there, even if you are putting the same font in its place be sure that you manually fill each and every bank yourself and then see if it allows you to download the soundfonts onto the soundboard. [THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART, YOU NEED TO EMPTY EVERY BANK FIRST AND THEN FILL EACH AND EVERY BANK YOURSELF]

When you are finish please click (at the top) Soundboard and then Write Sound Files to change the soundfonts.  Do NOT click Write parameters.

It looks like Darth Nelo Angelo is right, seems like it's faulty wiring. I removed the electrical tape to check the wiring, and it all looks intact, so I reapplied the electrical tape, put the batteries back in, then got the boot up sound. So I thought great, it's working again, but after about a minute, it just cut out again. So I'll be returning the saber, and asking for store credit. It's pretty disappointing when you pay all that money for a higher end saber, and it malfunctions after only a couple of days, and without even using it to duel, it's just been sitting on the stand since I got it Wednesday.

I contacted US who said they will fix it if I send it back to them. Still contemplating if I should send it back. Shipping is expensive from the UK to the USA.

Which saber of yours has stopped working?

If you cannot fix the wire yourself I would contact them and send it back for repair. They have great customer service and no doubt will fix it and everyone makes mistakes. It's human error it can happen to any manufacturer.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

Definitely email them first, before you do anything.  If you attempt the repair yourself, you may void the warranty on the electronics.  However, I've successfully soldered several wires in my sabers without issue.

Yes, but one could purchase a brand new car and have trouble with the engine due to a faulty part.  It could happen with a washer.  A dryer.  It could happen with a can opener.  In almost every instance, the manufacturer will make it good, if you simply send it back to them.  US will do the same.  There are so many variables here that could have caused this, but the fact of the matter remains that US WILL make it good for you, if you communicate with them.  That's how they do business.

Remember, you also paid for a warranty.  Use it.   Smiley

I received a reply email from US, and they seem to think it's a dead battery problem rather than wring, which I hope it is, because sending my saber over to the US (I live in Australia), and paying for return shipping sure will cost a hell of a lot to get it repaired. I should be getting my Li-ion spare batteries and charger tomorrow (bought on eBay from a dealer here in Australia to keep costs down, and to make sure I got a charger with the correct power cord), so will soon find out if it's the batteries or not.

Always, always, always check the batteries first. The simplest solution is usually the correct one. I had something similar with my emerald driver. The saber wouldn't be read by the computer, the blade wouldn't turn on, but the sound would. I changed to fully charged batteries, and it was back in business. The batteries weren't dead, but they had dropped just enough to have the launcher go wacky and mess up the color comfiguration.
