It's one of sedsti skyfaller's designs (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=20516.0). I have one on my Bellicose as well, I believe. Just adds a bit of flair to the guarded switches until such time as I get it together to replace them with AV switches.

Glad everyone enjoyed the review. I've done so many now, I think a bit of silliness here and there works well. The shot of the Flamberge 'shielding' the other hilts is probably my favourite photo I've taken to show on here Smiley

I'll definitely be looking at different options for the crossguard on the Flamberge, and I'm not ruling out settling down with a shorter set of blades on it. I think, as much as anything, it's the length of the hilt that really throws me... it's very big both in terms of breadth and height. Even at 6' tall, it's tough for me to cope with, but worth persevering with.

Blackstar, I'm confident that you'd be okay with a Flamberge. Darth Justicar is (comparatively!) small and she loves hers - it just goes to what you want out of a 'sabre. I love the idea of a crossguard, but I'm struggling with it. It may just be a mental block on my part about the side blades being, well, blades that I wouldn't want coming into contact with me*, whereas on a real sword of course they're metal and designed to shield rather than hurt.

*Possibly my favourite single moment of TFA is when the side blade is used to impale Finn through the shoulder. Brutal, and awesome.

Thanks James! I definitely would use it more for steady combat than spinning probably.
*That was one of my favorite parts too. When I first saw the design in the trailer I was like, "You could use those at close range during a lockup!" Then when they did it in the movie I was like, "Look they did the thing!" Haha. Cheesy

Regarding the height of the Flamberge, in my video review I stand it up and let you see what it actually looks like in comparison to me.  If you hunt through the review section, you should find the thread, and then if you look at the description on the video on YouTube, you'll see which section of the video covers the dimensions and proportions.  I also show the effects of my height and the size of the saber on handling.  For me, a lot of spinning wouldn't happen with that hilt, but that's okay because I'm a lot more interested in learning a bit of longsword fighting technique than I am in stuff like spinning.

Awesome! I'll definitely hunt it down Darth Justicar. Cheesy

Thank's a lot...looks cool. I wanted a Bane for my next saber, and I think I don't want it with an AV switch, its a hilt that looks great with a black guarded one. But I was thinking about putting on a red button or something so it looked a bit like Qui-Gon's switch...+1 for you...
What is the best adhesive to use for this??

From memory I just used a a small drop of superglue. I imagine if you message Sed directly and ask he can say if he recommends anything in particular.

Great, thorough review James. Smiley

I like what you've done by adding the shorter blade, and your intention to have a shorter cross-guard.  That will look amazing.

Two Guardians eh? One in each hand eh?

That'd be intense to see. Smiley
