Sadly no. I am looking for S5 on disc.
THEY'RE CUT OFF! Despite their new Cowboy Bebop series making my Funko POP rise to over $100 in value, I'm not looking forward to it. I am thoroughly sick and tired of every Millennial dipshell thinking that they can improve upon perfection by making it live action.

Not sure what millennials has to do with anything.

Not sure what millennials has to do with anything.

Because many of the Writers/Directors/Producers taking older franchises and rebooting them are within the millennial age bracket.  Its a mentality that seems to be very common among said group that many of these franchises need updates.  I won't mention the show but it can clearly be seen with a recent reboot of an 80s franchise.  It comes down to...if its not broke, don't fix it.   It's what  always causes backlash when they try and reboot things.  Its usually if not always the elements that made it popular in the first place that goes on the chopping block.
In this case...A:TLAB does not need a Live Action version.  If there are people that for whatever reason refuse to watch animated shows....their loss.

Oh I fully agree. A:TLA doesn't need a live action version. And if people don't want to watch the animation, too bad for them. BUT, I'm not opposed to a live action version.

I think it is less of trying to improve on the already perfect original, and more of trying to give people more Avatar content to enjoy as well as reach that audience that loves fantasy and would love the show except that they wont/don't watch animated things for whatever reason. I'm completely down for it. Plus the original creators of A:TLA are returning to make the show.
I'm not sorry. People who "don't watch cartoons" are shutting the door to endless possibility. It makes me sad that there are still individuals that think animation is purely a children's medium.

Quote
So because I finish A:TLA the other night, I decided to watch the abomination to see how bad it was. I'm not going to lie, there were some things that were genuinely good about the movie. Most was utter trash, but the soundtrack was spectacular, and many of the visuals were really good. But other than that, it was baaaad. THEY COMPLETELY LEFT OUT SUKI!!
WHY? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?HuhHuh? Why would you do this to yourself? You would have done infinitely better simply watching Nostalgia Critic's scathing review of it.....and gotten a few laughs out of it.

HEAR HEAR!

It's like when I heard the rumor about some asshole wanting to remake the Princess Bride. You know how it's rumored that the next global apocalypse will be of fire instead of the floods from the story of Noah? Well, I was going to be the cause of that fire. My fury would have burned this world to a smoldering wreck had this rumor held any validity. There is no way, shape, or form that anything could be done to improve that movie. So if you can't improve it, why do anything to it at all?

Ok, boomer  Wink

Jests aside, that specific generation has caught themselves in a very interesting point in cultural history where they find themselves questioning much of the structure thats been built up. Though to keep things lighthearted and simple, Ill just mention your supposition is wrong. None of the netflix executives are millennials, and thus, said generation is not responsible for the live action tv reboot. https://www.netflixinvestor.com/governance/officers-and-directors/default.aspx. I in general quite despise any (serious) generation bashing as it helps precisely no-one and is usually just echo-chambered whining.

Does ATLA need a live action series? No, but people like money, and if they want the most money, theyll attempt to make it well. I wont turn down a new experience in TV and movies, so in a way, the largest disappointment would be if it was truly 1:1. Though I obviously wouldnt recommend the approach the movie took either. Will simply have to wait and see.

I've watched plenty of scathing reviews of it, but I wanted to see for myself how utterly horrible it was. It didn't disappoint in that way.

You can't deny that there is an observable pattern. Although the execs might be old-farts, there is no guarantee that those pitching the project are as well. All they have to do is sell the idea to the bosses.

I would hope that the backlash from the movie would be incentive for them to tread carefully.

Morbid intellectual curiosity is one thing, but some things are better left unknown. It's why I haven't seen the Fem-busters failure.

As I said earlier, the original creators of the show are the ones doing the live-action series, so it will inevitably be better than the movie.

Hence why I watched it. It's sad that it's so bad, because it could've been good.

Also, it is important to note that in the movie, it does kind of make sense for them to have to have fire around them already. I mean, for each of the other elements, you can't create things out of thin air (well except for air), you have to have a source for them. Still dumb though.

That really isn't a guarantee.  By all accounts it was the writing team headed by Aaron Ehasz that made A:TLA what it was.  Much like Lucas was the creator of Star Wars but the best stories arguably came from other writers.  A few comments by the creators has also lead me to not put much faith in it...creators are many times some of the worst at consistency.

Okay, well then I'll put it this way. It can't be worse than the movie.

Here is my hope...its awesome and good.  It lives up to A:TLAB in every way possible.  Here is my fear:  Its going to be just as bad as the M. Night film....just for different reasons.

Yes, it could have.

I agree with the "fairness" of making the fire benders have a source. But the established lore was that they created fire from their chi, which is why exceptionally gifted practitioners {SPOILER ALERT} could produce lightning. Good luck finding ready sources of that.

What really killed the movie was that no one talked.....everyone explained. Made for a bit of boring "epic".

And they left out Suki. I'm mad about that. They skipped the whole Kyoshi Island and went straight to the Haru part, and did it poorly. I don't mind Haru, but I didn't like him nearly as much as Suki.
