I'll agree that Atlantis is amazing. It's been so long since I watched NIHM, so I can't really comment on that one, and I haven't watched Akira or  or Titan, but I've never been a fan of anime.

You shouldn't care....I don't think its the GOAT but if you do that's awesome.   I dunno, I never thought it was a bad film just not on my top list.  I'd say it was because I was 17 when it came out but I still watch animated films to this day.   As far was The greatest Animated Film of All Time...IMO.  Honestly I can not come up with one.  I have may favorites of course but I guess for me since Animation is constantly evolving its hard to pin down one that can't be beat...cause it might be.

I think that is probably why we have such different feelings about it. I grew up with El Dorado, so there is a lot of nostalgia to go along with how great the movie actually is. It is kinda like The Princess Bride in that regard for me. I consider TPB to be the best live action movie ever made, but I fully understand that 99% of the world disagrees with that.

I'd say my favorite animated Disney film is probably Robin Hood. Such an underrated film IMO.

My biggest issue with anime is the art style. I respect the artists, but the artwork itself I can't stand. There is really no reason for it, but it is bad enough that when I watched ATLA (which isn't even true anime), it took the first half of the first season before I was even remotely "okay" with the art. The only reason I knew to stick it out was because I'd watched random eps. before and knew how good the show itself was. But it was a struggle.

at least it's better than the cartoons as of late. I think it's sad when you go back and look at the old Transformers movie and see just how bad it is. are the giving the job to the lowest bidder?

I need to see Atlantis again. NIHM just didn't agree with me. Are you talking about Titan AE? I remember it being good and visually thrilling, but I need to see it again.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? IMO the greatest thing about anime is that there is at least 1 series for everyone. But there are also some that are just universally great. Case in point: Cowboy Bebop. Even the dubbed version is great. Great music, great animation, great story/concept, great character development, great world building, great music.

Then 99% of the world is WRONG. It's not the best for direct reasons. It's the best because of all the small things that when put together were a perfect whole. That's why when the rumor of a remake rose its vile head, the fan base was in an absolute furor. So much went right in the original release, it would be impossible to recreate let alone surpass.

That is such a loaded question, I just don't know where to begin.

Brave would be my favorite "princess" movie, but Sleeping Beauty would be my favorite "classic princess" movie.

Favorite classic tale: Aladdin
Favorite classic 'twist': Treasure Planet

That was my issue for why I never had any interest in ATLAB. The animation style looked child-oriented. Then when I was "forced" to start it, the animation took a back seat to the epic story being told.

As previously stated: watch Cowboy Bebop, then branch out if you desire. Just don't jump head first into FLCL.

Ahh FLCL. Not for the faint of heart or low on tolerance for sheer absurdity.
Cowboy Bebop is my all time favorite anime followed close by Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex and 2nd gig.
Favorite anime movie Red Line
Favorite gundam series 08th MS team. Solid mechs anime even if you don’t like Gundam.

Favorite Disney Princess movie: Tangled
Favorite all time Disney movie: Lion King
Favorite Pixar that’s actually difficult.
Favorite animated non-Disney movie Kung Fu Panda 1-3 with part 2 being my favorite.
