Jasmine is super pretty, hopefully her singing voice matches(she was always my favorite Princess, don't screw this up Disney)..... Will Smith is another story. Are they going to do a Genie freestyle rap? Gettin Jiggy With It?

The possibility of him being a rapping genie is a concern of mine as well. I don't remember anyone ever claiming Will Smith could sing.

I don't know whether or not he can, but I'm definitely concerned about the possibility of them giving him some cheesy rap song. I don't remember Robin Williams doing much singing in the original, so maybe they'll carry that over with Will Smith?

Will Smith has been in plenty of films where he didn't rap, so I don't think we should worry about that. I know Robin Williams had the "You ain't never had a friend like me" song, but that was almost spoken word type of singing. But again, it goes back to an earlier point: if they go different with the song people will complain. If they try to keep it more in line with the original, people will complain. The legacy of Williams is too strongly connected with this role.
I think it's like Dr Strange in Infinity War using the time stone to view possible futures. In only one will this movie come out fine. 14 million+ other times it may be a disaster.

True, but those also weren't musicals, this is, and Will Smith is(or was at one time) a commercially successful and award winning rapper, so I think our concern is justified.

He hasn't rapped in a while so we'll see, he may be a good or a decent singer. I like to keep most of my judgement down until I actually see the movie, look at how everyone doubted Heath Ledger with The Joker and his performance was insane.

All very true. But as Infinit01 said he hasn't rapped in a while. Plus, I don't think Disney has ever tried to introduce rap into any of their movies. Also, I think the actors playing Jasmine and Aladdin were cast as much for their singing ability as their acting ability. The genie, singing is not really a prerequisite. As I said before, the genie had one song in the original animated version. The rest of the time it was all about Robin Williams line delivery and comedic genius. And, if push comes to shove, Disney could do what they did with Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music and dub over his singing voice (as not even Disney would be so stupid as to introduce rap music into a song set in the Middle East).

Agreed. Disney wouldn't introduce rap into their movies so as you mentioned, they can always dub over Will's singing if he can't do so according to Disney's standards.

Ah yes, the "Zac Effron in High School Musical" treatment.... I have no doubt in Mr. Smith's comedic ability, which I'd wager is why he was hired.

Wait. Hold on a minute. Are you saying that wasn't Zac Efron singing? That's it. Nothing makes sense anymore.

However the first one was actor Drew Seely(who played Troy in the stage version). https://www.j-14.com/posts/why-doesn-t-zac-efron-sing-in-high-school-musical-142322/

Full disclosure, I have never seen any High School Musical movie. Really not my thing. To be honest, i think the only two movies with Zac Efron in that I've seen was the one he did with De Niro and the remake of Hairspray.

You haven't missed much. I liked Efron in The Greatest Showman, haven't watched much else with him in it though.
