the world is hollow and ive touched the sky

« on: February 16, 2012, 10:44:07 PM »

I dont know if this topic has been created before in the past but ive noticed in my short time on these forums, that a lot of people throw things around like, "i think *blank* saber color  is a sith color" or, "this saber color is definitely a neutral color" etc.  So i have decided to create a thread to discuss what these colors mean to you, in the hopes that ppl on the fence on what color they want for their new saber, can go through here and possibly relate to what others are interpreting blade colors as.

Guidelines: I generally would not like to include some of the "special" colors such as Sunrider's Destiny, Arctic Blue, Dark Violet Amethyst, and Bane's Heart because they are just variations of a base color.
Please include whether the color is an ACTION color (a color that says to you that the wielder is ready to act upon his or her decision) or an INERT color (a color that says to you that the wielder is open to discuss or persuade over immediate action) or a NEUTRAL color (a color that says to you that the wielder has no reservations on how an outcome is achieved).  *** KEEP IN MIND the color "types" have NOTHING TO DO WITH FORCE ALIGNMENT.  so if a blade color is neutral, that does not mean they can be light or dark, it means the wielder can go both ways of ACTION or INERT.

*****Please keep in mind, these are my opinions and MY interpretations.  please continue the thread with your own opinions and interpretations of the colors*******

Here we go:

Guardian Blue - This is an ACTION color.  It represents Justice and it's Enforcement.  As the name suggests, it is a Protector color in Defense against evil and those with malevolent intent.

Consular Green - This is an INERT color.  It represents a mind of the wielder that is at Peace with One's Self. It represents the ability to Counsel and Problem Solve.  To wield this color is to respect Tranquility and Serenity over Force.

Blazing Red - This is an ACTION color.  It represents Passion and Hate.  Striking the first blow, sacrificing defense for attacks that resemble more of an Onslaught, you do not believe in honor amoungst warriors, only who is Stronger.

Violet Amethyst - This is an INERT color.  It represents a mind of the wielder that is Sinister and Brooding.  To Break Down his/her enemy by Taunting or to Persuade his/her enemy to join your cause even if you have no intentions of letting them just for your amusement of seeing them turned.

Sentinel Yellow - This is a NEUTRAL color.  It represents the "Ronin" mentality of one with No Master.  Destiny is Carved by one's Actions.  For Good or for Evil, this blade color signifies that Your Destiny is Your Own and it is what You Make it.

Adegan Silver - This is an ACTION color.  Whether you battle for good or for evil, this blade color signifies that you are Willing to Do whatever it takes to get the job done.  You are Fate's Enforcer, Judge and Executioner.  Whatever the cost, Whatever it takes, your enemy cannot hide from you or your crusade.

Fire Orange - This is a NEUTRAL color. It represents the Ferocity of Blazing Red, and yet the Serenity of Consular Green.  Passion and Anger and Hate are Present however, they are Understood, Contained, Respected, ready to Unleash when the wielder wishes.

so there you have it folks, enjoy and please continue with your own interpretations.

And now you have 7 Wink Teh Force is strong wit yew....

I agree with what has already been said, however I tend to go with the Coat of Arms meanings: http://www.irishsurnames.com/colors.htmhttp://www.irishsurnames.com/colors.htm

Of course, that list is incomplete, as it is notably missing magenta (BH) and blue-green (SRD).

I like yellow.

It's yellow, yellow and yellow.

That's my argument. Grin

It's an exuberant color, it's definitely is a color that I can connect with.

I look to the sky and see a Bright Yellow sun; shinning across the darkness of space. Like a sentinel guarding the lost back to the light.

Kham is the King Of Yellow. He's just doing his job. He doesn't have a choice, it is imbedded in his genetic code.

I look at the sun and see a small star that will destroy our little planet eventually Wink I always associate yellow with old light bulbs.

Without our yellow sun we all wouldn't be here; We'd be floating rock. Yellow has always given me a warm happy feeling, which is what it's always said it was supposed to do to the human brain. Evoke happiness and creativity.

You did also refer to me spreading "Evil love". lol

When it goes Red, nobody will be happy with it Wink Enough about the apocalyptic associations of yellow, what about magenta? What does everyone else think of it as?

Yeah, sometimes I see yellow as pestilence or rot (Abraxas from Tron: Evolution, anyone?) I created a Sith character with a yellow saberstaff and the crystal was called "poison amber." Point is, yellow is a totally neutral color, and can lean either way.

I enjoyed the crap outta that game!

Nebula, Brightly colored clouds of gas floating in stasis; the aftermath of the red.

Those are some excellent interpretations Ricktur!  I greatly enjoyed reading them.

I agree with most of your statements, although I'd like to bring up that some colors can have a very different connotation depending on how they're wielded.  In Mace Windu's hands, a violet saber exudes a regal nobility befitting of a leader of the Jedi Order.  At the same time in the hands of a Sith it appears to almost be a Jedi blade poisoned by the red-hot hatred of the dark side...

I just wanted to remark on that after seeing the differing views of yellow.

Pretty interesting idea.  Reading your opinions on this was interesting.  Now I'm sure everyone here has their own opinions on what each blade color actually symbolizes but I think you put your point across quite well.

Really the only BIG difference in opinion I have with your review of colors is green.

Quinlon Vos http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Quinlan_Vos was anything but at peace with himself for the Clone Wars and he weilded a green saber.

And when Luke made his lightsaber (after losing his father's to Vader) his new one was green.  And there was more then one time afterwards that Luke dabbled in some darker aspects of the force or lost his nerve.

Vos was who I based my character off of.

That teetering that he feels.
