So... I ordered my first Three UltraSabers but had them sent to my parents as thats where i was going for Christmas. I had about a three week wait before i got them so i decided to make some dodgy PVC sabers to play with in the meantime.

They dont light up or anything as I had no idea at the time how to build an LED Saber. They cost approx $10 AUD each and i purchased everything from Bunnings (our local hardware store.)

The Hilt took about 3 minutes to put together Smiley

Then i Slid the Blade into place.

Decided the white wasn't good enough.

No laughing at my makeshift spray-booth on the blacony Smiley

After a few weeks wear and tear is clearly visible

Side by side - I didn't use any glue in this construction, as seen one is separating near the emmiter.

Finally a size comparison next to my RGB Dominix

This was a fun and cheap way to keep me busy while waiting and it certainly gave me an idea of how easy it can be to put together a PVC saber.

Now that I have a little more know-how in reference to the LED setup, i may make a few of these with full electronics... You know..... for the kids to play with Smiley

Cheers Ultra... I based them on the PVC initiate, just changed the Emitter and made them full size.

Worked out really well for a cheapy to throw around.

This is the kind of thing duelists should have handy when they are learning.  Maybe cover the blades with some pipe insulation to prevent ouchies, too  Wink

I love the simple yet effective design! By any chance do you have the specs for the parts you used? I might try and build a simple working saber with that design. Smiley I have a friend who always ends up damaging the sabers (that should be nearly indestructible to begin with) so we have decided to not let him play with ours anymore. XD

Very cool! I fill in time between order and arrival with World of Warcraft and fueling my nicotine addiction.

Yeah mate, give me a day or so and i'll write up the parts, dimensions, etc.
Ha ha its hard to keep people away from the UltraSabers Smiley I just use these two as my practice sabers now, they're perfect for it. Oh and they come in handy when my Mrs wants to play... (i dont let her touch my UltraSabers lol)

I really like this. How long did it take to actually make it?

Drive to hardware = 2 mins
Explore hardware = 10 mins
Purchase + Drive home = 5 mins
Cut 20mm PVC = 5 mins
Slide it all together = 3 mins

Total time from deciding to build, to swinging around the living room and smashing light fittings in ceiling = 25 mins Smiley

Painting will take as long as you wish, all depends on how good you want it to look. Mine was two days.

Dude, you only spent 10 mins in a hardware store?  You must have some pretty fierce determination.  I can't spend less than 1 hour.  All those tools and parts... can't resist.

Ok guys if there is a few people interested in the build and parts of this "dueling practice Saber" I will head down to the Hardware and buy some more parts...

This time i'll shoot some photos of how the parts go together and stuff.... No paint, just construction.
