With your hair involved as well as the details of the tattoos I would take the idea that less is more...you may be getting seriously close to the Clutter Zone...any chance to attach a pair or two to hair appliances like barrettes to extend the whole array and keep from clustering on your face?

As for the metal bits, those are easy to make at home...when and if you want to I can walk you through the process...easy peasy.

Well the six are going on a crown, and the three over each eye brow are going to replace my eyebrows, because I'm going to cover them. At least that's the original idea. Like I said I'm going to play around and find a look I like. haha. What kinds of materials would I need to cover the tips of the horns?

There are a couple ways...the way I would favor leads down a road strife with sharp edges and cut fingertips...so let us consider the less grief filled path.

Index cards

$1 gold spray paint from Mal-Wart  Smiley

$1 black craft paint

Aluminum foil

Stapler

First shape the card into a right sized mini cone, mark connection line, then draw you fancy edges, cut edges and punch holes, reshape, staple, wrap in foil, shape and press holes in foil (wrap edges to give grip), spray with gold, let dry to a tacky stage, rub softly with paper towel, let dry.

Once dry coat in black paint, rub off excess.

You will have iron/brass look for pennies.

Alas, the last day and a half have been nothing, but failures for me in the costume department. I put too much water in the hydrocal so it didn't dry fast enough, so no horns. And my airbrush was acting funny so I tried to do my make up anyway, and one mess up after another I gave up and took a shower. My saber did show up, so I recorded me opening it in my costume. Tonight after it's dark I'll record more and try to get some pictures up with my costume.

Hydrocal is fairly easy to work with.

It is meant to be used as a slurry.

Did you use tepid tap water or hot water...hot water will shorten the soak time and quicken the cure.

It sounds like you may have been too excited and skipped the soaking stage...the soak is an important stage.

Measure 1:1, but do not just dump and mix.

In a third container, I like a smooth rounded bottom soup bowl as it has no edges and makes mixing bien mieux   Grin

Start with a small amount of powder in bowl, say a 1/5th or 1/4th, add some water and mix completely.

It will be loose, but it will be easier to mix if you have this loose plaster juice, add a little bit of powder to the loose batch until it gets thick, then add a small bit of water, just enough to loosen the mix...continue until all the powder is in the bowl, you can leave a little water out and add it as the mix soaks or saturates.

This hydration starts the process but let it sit for a couple minutes, keep slowly stirring, adding a touch of water (remember it was measured out so you can't add to much...it is how and when you add it) to keep it loose.

Then when it starts to feel like oatmeal, pour, tap to release air bubbles.

If you live somewhere hot and fairly dry, put it in direct sun, if not then in the sun on a shelf behind a window, or just let it set.

A fan on it will help pull excess moisture out and away.

If you find it too loose in the mold, pour it out into your bowl and add a touch more powder stir and pour again...keep in mind that this mix will be "hot" or curing so do not wait around, pour.

Best of luck and success  Smiley
