Few questions regarding grab bag sabers

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to the US forums and am interested in starting a collection! From what I've been reading for the last few hours, grab bags are the best
way to start a new collection so I think I'm willing to take that risk. However I have a few questions before I place an order:


1. If I'm going to order a random color, what would generally be the best blade quality to go with? I don't plan on beating the crap out of it but I would like it to be
durable enough to where it won't fall apart on me but not sacrifice too much "Realness".


2. How common are the un-"original" lightsaber colors such as Adegan Silver, Fire Orange, and Sun Rider's Destiny if you choose to go random? I would really prefer to have any color but those 3.
There's something about the standard colors that I've always had a thing for.


I am aware that you can request certain colors through the comments but how often do they listen to requests? Also, I did read the great post by Deep regarding  the
blade types but what is considered "Light" dueling? I'm sure the Midgrade quality would fit me perfectly however I'm a little skeptical on the blade bending.

Mid-grade is my choice for blade colors. It's by preference of course but I'd go for MG to start. And it certainly won't fall apart on you...unless you TRY to destroy it.

Random colors will, I would assume, be mostly the red, green, blue and maybe silver. Again, that's an assumption but the premium colors have an additional fee so I'd say you're pretty unlikely to get one.

And from what I hear, they're really good at listening to the comments box so you should be good.

As to light dueling, it is essentially just sparring and NOT trying to knock the ever living crap out of something.

1. I would go mid grade - looks good with all the colors, and looks better on some than Ultraedge.

2. The chance is as high as with any other color. Adegan Silver is splendid, though, especially because you get color disks.

3. On the grab bag, if you select a color, you will get that color. If you're referring to the forum-only colors, if you put it in the comments box you will get that color.

4. I'm not sure what other people consider light dueling to be, but the mid grade blades have held up to everything I've tried with them.

I actually do have another question that just came to mind. Say I get my grab bag saber and it is Obsidian Board compatible. Could I send the blade back to get it
installed or would I have to order the Soundboard and do it myself? Been looking at videos and I'm really digging the sounds.

I think it's mostly V2s going out so those aren't obsidian compatible. If you DID get a V3, you can send it back in but it'll be $100+ and the soundboard isn't for sale on its own right now

EDIT: There HAVE been some posts by Turhamkey and ncc about using other soundboards and a ton of cram-fu in V2 Liberators...

I actually do have another question that just came to mind. Say I get my grab bag saber and it is Obsidian Board compatible. Could I send the blade back to get it
installed or would I have to order the Soundboard and do it myself? Been looking at videos and I'm really digging the sounds.

You could - but you'd be better off saving up and paying for the sound install first.  The wiring of the grab bag would need to be gutted, so it could run the Li-Ion setup that Obsidian really needs - basically you'd be looking at $100 - $150 to retrofit.  Plus shipping.
