i'd personally stay away from history fanfics, those usually don't go over to well. People prefer canon history, IMHO.

I wasn't telling you what you must not do, it was only a suggestion. I just think that one should not do a history fanfic, as it leads to disappointment. You get someone excited, and then when they find out the history, and then if it isn't what they hoped, they would get upset. just some advice, is all. That is why regular fanfics are great, because they take place in either current or future ponyville, and we know those things can never happen. But when doing a history piece you are basically saying this is what happened, suggesting that it could happen.
Overall what I am saying is that it is best to leave the history to the ones who make the show. After all they know what it will be or is, and they know best.
This is all just advice. You can do whatever you, it's just I don't think you will get positive responses. But hell, what do I know? I am only one Brony.
