Yes, I know it's been available for a bit, but I just found it a couple of days ago and watched the entire first season straight through. Now I have to watch it again to see what I missed the first time through.

Yes, I know it's been available for a bit, but I just found it a couple of days ago and watched the entire first season straight through. Now I have to watch it again to see what I missed the first time through.

Having more issues than I expected with the English dubbed version though. When I first watched it over the weekend, it was available subtitled only. When I watched it last night, most episodes (but not all) were available dubbed.
Part of my issue is that I was also watching Arise (and wishing they would put borders 4 and 5 on Netflix) which has some of the same voice actors but in different roles. Another part of my issue is that some of the characters are voiced by actors that I know from other anime and I have issues hearing a character from one story in a completely different one. Cases in point, wtf are Kotomine and Asuna doing in GITS?!?

I hate to be the otaku snob that I was recently called out as (thanks Logos), but if the shoe fits... well, watch it in the original language with subtitles! It's always going to be better in my opinion. Only exception I can think of is FLCL. It kind of works better dubbed because of a few pop culture references that most in the West wouldn't get. I have to admit that most dubbed anime has gotten much, much better since the 80's. I'm just hard headed and I can understand a decent amount of Japanese, so it's less reading than if you don't understand the language at all. I would assume from your name that you know some Japanese yourself. Is that correct, Wind Of The Cherry Blossoms? |
