Oh, Darth Tepes, I meant to ask you, how do you like the Hanwei/Paul Chen Practical Viking Sword, if that is indeed what I see at your waist in that picture.  I've been thinking about picking one up.

Good Eye my friend ( I can not tell you the joy I have had speaking to someone who knows what I am saying LOL).  I love it.  Good weight and balance, very nimble.  Its my go to for practice.  I can do a short video review this weekend if you like and answer and specifics.

You say it's good, combined with my familiarity with the Practical Longsword (I have a couple of those that served well enough until I got my Albion Liechtenauer), that's good enough for me.

LOL  Only con I can say about it is the scabbard is plastic.  Minor as it is rarely in the scabbard.  How is the longsword?

Well, some notable things, which aren't negatives, per se.  Just things to note.

The blade comes to a narrower, but still quite rounded, tip, compared to my Albion Liechtenauer.  The grip is quite long, compared to the more "typcial" longsword dimensions like the Albion, while the blade is a little shorter, again in comparison to the Albion.  I think the scabbard may be of a similar plastic, it's certainly synthetic, but covered with leather, and has a metal chape and throat.  The edges were quite squared off, and I broke the corners with a file before I first used them in practice with a partner.

They've held up really well, overall.

Points to everyone for sharing.

I have a problem. My knife has a finger stud that you push down on to open it and it has no grip on it. If my fingers have any oils or moisture on them It's really hard to open. Any ideas on how to add some grip to it? I can post pics later if necessary.

I think I have some suggestions, but I'd like pictures if possible.

Wow, some really great examples of blades.  I have a few swords myself (mostly for show): a katana and wakizashi set, the William Wallace's claymore from "Braveheart," the Accolade Templar Sword, Glamdring from LotR, a Viking longsword and seax, and finally a soldier's dagger.

So, you'd want it to be more like this:

So, the question is, do you trust yourself to do it with small files, or do you want to take it to a professional.
