I just turned into our driveway. I know it is all my fault for not noticing this while paying attention to all the traffic and such but that is what I get for being a guy, we are always wrong even in the face of hard empirical evidence. Hence her getting upset because I brought my floor mats in to rinse them in the shower. (which I cleaned afterwards) Try to take this as a bit lighthearted as that is how it is intended, although it would be said in a downtrodden and long suffering manner.  |

If someone says something right, they are correct. If someone says something wrong, they are mistaken, as we all are from time to time. If you correct someone when they were mistaken, they call you a 'know it all' because they are unable to accept they are mistaken and they blame you. This is not a healthy response to education. Turning someone away from a pit fall is never wrong, even when someone lies, "Shut up! I saw'r it!" Punishing knowledge from a subordinate or friend would be like letting a rapist go and jailing the victim, because no one likes a tattle tail. Popular childish thinking is still harmful, regardless of popularity, if not more so. Believing a popular tendency of being offended makes something offensive breaks down communication.

It's a societal survival instinct. They did an episode of Brain Games on it. Somewhere in that mess of fat and nerves it makes more sense to bullshell your "facts" than accept that you made a mistake and learn how it should be done. |
