Title: Logos and Kath's SW Celebration Adventures
Post by: Darth Logos on April 19, 2019, 08:02:46 PM
UGH! Where to begin. I'm going to just try to group these the best I can instead of doing chrono-order. The ultra sad thing was that we...I didn't know how YUGE the venue was and we were only in one quarter of the event. We missed much, but what we got to do/see was still worth the cost and pain (FYI: cosplaying is not for wimps.)

All hail the NEW Emperor.

Let's start with my favorite subject matter: the Sith

These two were amzing. The pureblood was actually amazed that I knew a pureblood on sight. (What is the world coming to?) She was resting at the time, so I didn't make her put her gloves and bracers on.

Darth Plagueis. I love it when the obscure cosplays come out, especially the "Legends".

It took me little while to figure this out because holograms were in that day.

Sith Stalker

Ep1 and Rebels

No intros needed. He of course had the US saber set, and let me see his Butcher. HOLY SPIT, that thing is a beast and a half.

Have a drink on Maul.

The great Darth Bane in full orbalisk armor and alongside Mandalore the Ultimate.

Bon appetit

Samurai Vader and Trooper

Points if you know.

Just cool. Her horns were incredible.

The EE twins

Our new buddy Malek

Pretty good mash-up

And then there's these dorks.

More to come. I'm out.

Awesome pics!

Was that Sith Stalker ... Rapine?    If not he's certainly the guy who posed for Rapine's sig!  :-)

Rap's sig is actually CGI from the game art.

Thanks for sharing.

And I think that one Vader may have been based on the McQuarrie concept art

I'm calling the 3 of us dorks.

And when I look at your pose, it just makes me think of this

Moving on. Up next, Jedi. Not really a great selection, but.....

This one had stellar leather armor and a bitchin' custom saber. It had awesome windows in it. He was cool enough to let me see it......and then he died. Now it was officially a con. >:D

Grand daddy of all hangovers. I actually saw this guy at Indy Comicon last year, but was eating and couldn't catch him.

Ghost Obi-Wan

Samurai Jedi

Couldn't turn down well done lekku. NTM, how often do you see a male Twi'lek cosplay?

Aaaaannndd.... The Last Jedi. Twin sisters. Ep.7 had her game face on. ;D Too cute.

Now, let's see......OOH. Dopplegangers. Technically these belong to other categories, but were so damn good they deserved their own category.

Here is the first one we saw. He was incredible. The likeness was a little frightening.

Even I had to get a shot of this Kylo.

And yes. She was almost as tall as Gwendoline Christie. I had to look up to meet her eye.

And the winner of the best doppleganger award goes to Chirrut Imwe. I had to double take to make sure that wasn't actually Donnie Yen.

Nice pics. Hopefully you don't mind hanging with a Jedi at Anaheim... I expect to get in on the pics. :P
It is unlikely we will make it to next years.

For the record, I knew you were dorks...    ;-)
Have a cookie.

All I can say is pounce hard and fast. As the beginning of this story started over a year ago.

Kath: "Are we going to SCW? Tix are about to go on sale."
Logos: "Ooo. That would be fun. Wait....yes. Buy now for Saturday, cuz those won't last a week."

10 min after sales opened, we had tix.

2 days later Saturday tix were gone.

It's still a dream... but fingers crossed
You would probably do better to wait for another Mid-West stop.....unless you reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyyyy want to go.

Awesome share Logos, especially the doppelgängers! I can’t believe Tormund Giantsbane wasn’t creeping over Phasma’s shoulder...
I'm only about half finished. Been really busy since being back, so I'm posting in spurts. Today should be Troopers and Rebels.

AND WE'RE BACK!

For today's installment, we will be looking at troopers/officers, bounty hunters, and rebels.

"Our first catch of the day." Little Krennic.

G.A. Thrawn

Jango Fett. As someone who has seen the original movie costume, I can say this guy was pretty spot on.

This Scout was too cool. I saw him walking out of Hayden's booth when I was in line for Ian. He even had the headset for the comm sound effect.

Troopers on leave.

Get 'em. GET 'EM!

Capt. Rex

How often do you see and Aurra Sing? She was only missing 2 things: the antenna and the long fingers.

Steampunk Rey

THE best Lando. Even had the right hair.

Joker Leia. Didn't really get it, but her outfit was fantastic. I noticed and commented on her belt, she replied that all of was commissioned, and set quality. I believed her.

Hologram Leia. I thought this was pretty original.

Hoth Leia. (I swear I'm not doing this on purpose.)

Temple Guards.

Captain A-Mandolorian? He was impressed that I could read his Aure-besh "A" (Aurek) on his helmet. And really went nuts when he saw my quick-connect coupler.

Points if you know why I isolated these two from their group.

Boushh

And one lonely pirate....

And now for some goofballs

Not sure if this is from the Shakespeare adaptations, but he was cool. And you quickly learned where he was. He was really good with snapping that fan open.

Sailor Scout Trooper

"Hey Morty, look. I'm a stormtrooper, Morty."

I think that Florida heat is gonna be what drives people away....unless they do it in the dead of winter. Cosplayers will be dead just getting from the car to the venue.

ACs are colder than Chicago was. They had AC at 75 which is was too warm for an event like that. Even regular AC here is usually between 65 and 72 for large public locations

You looked a bit warm as Bastila. One of the things I took into consideration when piecing together my elements was heat. Warm enough for trick-or-treating, breathable enough to survive warmer occasions.

OK. Let's see if I can finish this.

Kicking things off: The Force Unleashed.

Already posted but worth doing again.

I wish I had grabbed a shot of the other one I saw in line for Sam Witwer. He was good dead on that Sam took his picture.

Maris Brood. Hey, those guard shotos look familiar.

No duh. I would have posted this one in Sith, buuutttt....he was in too close a proximity to the previous and the next pics.

This one made me squee. Fortunately he had a buddy close by because he didn't speak English too good. Turns out he was unfamiliar with the game, but was inspired by images he had seen. I explained to his friend, who translated, what the images were from, and told him the story about how Vader trained a secret apprentice that grew up and totally whooped his ass. ;D ;D ;D

Now big finish, with Misc. and cool stuff

Predator in Crocs. Awesome. Had to fight him.

WANT!

Outside the LEGO booth. Apparently little Leia was cold.

His boobs squeaked. Had to get some of that.

Queens on parade. The last one was particularly cool because she had the whole entourage. Had to walk backward for a while, cuz they didn't have time to stop.

We told them they need to find a droid builder and follow him around. They were a little too interested in my saber.

DORKS!

How often do you see a dianoga in a floating ball of garbage?

This was particularly cool. There is a wheel chair underneath this bantha. It was done up in the styles of a Chinese dragon. The eyes blinked, and the head twisted.

Apparently a Blues Brother is always to be found at a Chicago con.

Aunt Beru

WTH?!? I told them they needed an Obi Wan holding a club. ;)

Honorable Mentions. We didn't actually get to see them, but they were cool.

Agent Kallus. Talk about life imitating art.

Malakili

Meh Jedi, but and awesome Mother Talzin

<snickers>

Guess who's canon now, bitches.

This was AWESOME. What you are about to witness is known as the running of the Willrow Hoods. Supposedly there is a guy from Germany that organizes this flash mob for every SWC. {ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM!}

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DSPcnBWDHQ&feature=youtu.be#)

I had to ask around, but Willrow Hood is that random extra that runs by the camera for a split second while evacuating Cloud City.

And the winnner......of the most obscure cosplay of the weekend...goes to......(drum roll please)

THIS GUY!

And now for da swag.

I had the POP! so I thought may as well get it signed by da man. >:D And yes, we got the smile.

This was very special. TFU was my final push to the dark side. And getting to meet the behind the character was.....indescribable. I didn't fan-girl on him, but I did get to shake his hand. Sam is too cool. It took us way too long to get through his line, but that's because he talked to everyone that went through. And not just small talk, but more like if he had time, he'd actually have a conversation with each of us.

Finally, I had James Arnold Taylor sign my copy of Going Commando. This is game in which he became the voice of Ratchet. So, I'm pretty sure that I was the only one to get one of these at SWC. (SCORE)

75 is pretty warm. Girl's allowed to be warm in a warm venue. We're usually cold, that's how you KNOW it's warm.

Sadly, only one. We really needed 3 to see it all, but we were a) poor and b) not sure how big it was going to be. :'( If we'd already had the experience of Wizard Con (8hrs there, only saw half the con) before we bought SWC tix, we probably would have tried to do multi-days. I was completely oblivious to how large a venue McCormick was. The whole event took up the convention centers of 4 buildings. It was insane.
