I think a Mandalorian Darksaber would still be possible. Could still be a square hilt but then have the main blade emitter inside rounded to fit the usual blades. But then have the handguard a different design like add another notch where the guard is flat but pointing downward so its opposite of the main notch design thing if that makes sense  |

I have big hands, so it doesn't effect me. Just a lot of people in this community seem to have smaller hands. |

You've made me stumble onto a thought I've never had before. If US successfully made the hilt, the saber would finally have a properly shaped blade.   Then all we have to do is work out a way to effectively produce a black blade. |

I saw a youtube video reviewing a (rather oddly shaped) flat acrylic blade...I didn't really like it, because the light/color was only visible on the edges and engraving in the polycarb...but it *could* be the way to make a darksaber blade. I mean, if you look at the one they did in Rebels - pic is huge so linking - it's a flat black blade with white light coming out. So the acrylic could be tinted/painted black over most of it, with the edges clear and the etching so the white led would shine through. |

Oh from what I saw those blades are straight crap, which is why I didn't link to the youtube video or mention the company at all.  I was just saying the concept, done properly with good materials, would produce a black blade like the darksaber has. Although bigBear is right, it would only be good for a display/costume purpose. |

Yes. There was a start-up thing a couple of guys were doing with 1" acrylic rods, where they put them in a particle collider (or some other big science toy). The result was this amazing lightning pattern that showed the path of the particles through the acrylic. Pretty much each blade was a one of kind.  |
