Title: PARKOUR! Post by: spectresabre on July 31, 2013, 03:12:31 AM It's been a looooong long time, sitting around and playing AC and watching parkour videos, getting inspired only to find myself only becoming lazier and lazier. But a month ago I began looking up Parkour How-to videos on YouTube! So far I can "kong vault" over a bench at the nearby park, and do dive-rolls through the rope swing in my front yard.
This is all thanks to LaFlaire Parkour, and Ronniestreetstunts on Youtube! Not only is this making me feel more free and capable of overcoming new challenges, but it has also beefed up my arms and chest a bit. Also helping me with my saber training! Thanks Parkour!! Title: Re: PARKOUR! Post by: TheHobbitofDune on July 31, 2013, 07:10:42 AM I actually just completed AC II. lol. I reaaally want to learn how to do parkour now. Even more so after reading your post :D
Title: Re: PARKOUR! Post by: Master Lucien Kane on July 31, 2013, 07:14:40 AM I just started a parkour school in Beaverton. It's pretty awesome. I'd definitely invest in getting mats if you're going to work on precision jumps and things of that nature.

Post by: Rina Ascura on August 02, 2013, 08:42:14 AM Parkour is interesting, but the place I live in isn't very conductive to it. A wannabe parkourist in Russian countryside will end up knee deep in refuse, stung by stinging nettles and burned by giant hogweed (think poison ivy, but in a form of a very tall grass / dense shrubbery), his ass bitten by the neighbours' angry guard dogs who know nothing about fashionable city slicker sports, and having to pay for all the sheds and fences he broke during his exercises. That's if he avoids a shotgun blast for being mistaked for a crop thief.

There's always a way to play it safe. Title: Re: PARKOUR! Post by: RLYHYPERGUY on August 03, 2013, 04:10:59 AM Learn some rolls :) They can help if you fail something. A very good approach :) I do that a lot too!Title: Re: PARKOUR! Post by: RLYHYPERGUY on August 03, 2013, 07:39:14 PM A very good approach :) I do that a lot too! It really helps break your fall! I don't know why more people don't do it! Title: Re: PARKOUR! Post by: Deceptae on August 03, 2013, 11:54:17 PM I do it all the time, but it kinda hurts my back some times. I have to work on forward momentum, I guess. also, kongs are scary to me. I have busted my shins too many times.
Title: Re: PARKOUR! Post by: spectresabre on August 04, 2013, 07:58:26 AM I do it all the time, but it kinda hurts my back some times. I have to work on forward momentum, I guess. also, kongs are scary to me. I have busted my shins too many times. That was the first thing I learned. Here's a video tutorial, very in depth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYGU697kF0Q#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYGU697kF0Q#ws) I use park benches, but they are a little too close to the ground. My landings are always a bit harsh. And a good way to prevent hurting your back during a roll is to roll diagonally. It's best to practice for 20 minutes rolling over left and right shoulders in a crouched position. :) |
