Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Markus on February 22, 2015, 10:59:48 AM Am still pondering over whether or not I should order one, but if at all, my favored setup would be:
[Hilt Finish : Black anodized] [Main Blade LED : Blazing Red] [Left Blade LED : Blazing Red] [Right Blade LED : Blazing Red] [Main Blade Type : 36" Midgrade] [Left Blade Type : 6" Midgrade] [Right Blade Type : 6" Midgrade] [Flash on Clash : Silver] [Battery Configuration : Li-Ion Setup with BuckPuck (Batteries Included *ONLY*)] [Sound : Yes, Obsidian USB Sound w/ Non-Illuminated AV Switch] [Blade Tip : Pointed Tips on all blades] PS: It would be interesting to have the Emerald Driver in it to play with the pulse time and try to recreate a flicker effect, but ultimately is not a definite must have unless you're a technophiliac. :D [Install Covertec Wheel : Yes] Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Qui-Lar on February 22, 2015, 04:26:38 PM Am still pondering over whether or not I should order one, but if at all, my favored setup would be: Dont be the only one of us not[Hilt Finish : Black anodized] [Main Blade LED : Blazing Red] [Left Blade LED : Blazing Red] [Right Blade LED : Blazing Red] [Main Blade Type : 36" Midgrade] [Left Blade Type : 6" Midgrade] [Right Blade Type : 6" Midgrade] [Flash on Clash : Silver] [Battery Configuration : Li-Ion Setup with BuckPuck (Batteries Included *ONLY*)] [Sound : Yes, Obsidian USB Sound w/ Non-Illuminated AV Switch] [Blade Tip : Pointed Tips on all blades] PS: It would be interesting to have the Emerald Driver in it to play with the pulse time and try to recreate a flicker effect, but ultimately is not a definite must have unless you're a technophiliac. :D [Install Covertec Wheel : Yes] getting one of these beauties. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Zren Tobas on February 22, 2015, 05:09:29 PM I would seriously love one. If I were to get one all three blades would be Blazing Red, Obsidian sound silver flash, in hilt re charge, 36 inch main, 8 inch cross guard blades, and all black hilt finish, covertech wheel of course. This saber is too expensive for me though even with regular Obsidian set up. u.u
Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Markus on February 22, 2015, 05:17:44 PM I would of course order one right away, maybe even completely without sound for the time being and have that added later by US, but there are a few upcoming expenses for "stuff" that have a higher priority at the moment than sabers do. ^^"
PS: Just checked for shipping to my location (didn't do that before)...and no...sadly can't afford that right now. The shipping costs to Europe (Germany) would kill me. xD Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: jmPlagueis on February 22, 2015, 09:24:34 PM Hey I feel you guys on the cost. On the bright side, you guys won't have to endure the long, painful wait as many of us have :'( ;) Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: dasweallycool on February 23, 2015, 11:28:19 AM Hey I feel you guys on the cost. I would actually love it the Matis CE was like the colored versions, where the nickel was the primary color and the silver was the accent or underlay. Bad luck there i'm afraid, it's said that on mine since day one, i found out while trying to hook up my printer to print off the receipt. (jk) You couldn't just let me have a moment? Once figured out, you will love the pulse and FoC functions of the Emerald driver. As for the sound board, it always sounds good, with or w/o the Emerald. I would have gone that route, but the E-B couldn't handle all 3 LEDs, so I opted for just canon colors. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Sypho Ruut on February 25, 2015, 08:44:35 PM Pf, forewarned is forearmed ;)
Mhm, i'm looking forward to it, i set it with the side blades as channel 4 so i could get them to flicker along with the main (i hope), but honestly it's the obsidian i'm looking forward to most. I keep playing with the sound files even before the saber is here, having fun making something that sounds like three blades. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Sypho Ruut on February 27, 2015, 11:57:48 AM An initiate i bought for my younger brother came in AS, and actually we found it looked great just by itself, so you might find you don't use the colour discs all that much ;D
Out of interest, what other options have you picked for yours? We've got a lot of LE and high polish hilts at the moment ::) Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Darth Logos on February 27, 2015, 04:49:56 PM be at peace, the force will guide us to victory Then bring your lunch. I reccommend getting extra disk packets in order to get better colors. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Kal-El_Kenobi1138 on February 27, 2015, 06:33:37 PM Yep I'm getting a crap load of extra discs after my friend and I started play with both our sets but here's my lay out
[Hilt Finish:Black Finish][Main Blade LED Color:Adegan Silver + Color Discs][Left Blade LED Color:Adegan Silver + Color Discs][Right Blade LED Color:Adegan Silver + Color Discs][Main Blade Type:40" Ultraedge Midgrade][Left Blade Type:8" Ultraedge Midgrade][Right Blade Type:8" Ultraedge Midgrade][Flash on Clash:No Flash][Battery Configuration:Li-Ion Setup with BuckPuck (Batteries & Trustfire Charger Included)][Recharge Port:No Recharge Port][Sound:Yes, Obsidian USB Sound!][Include Retention Screw Wrench:No Thanks][Include Blade Plug:No Thanks][Include MINI USB Cable:No Thanks][Include Covertec Clip:No Thanks][Install Covertec Wheel:Yes. Specify location in comments ($10 install + $4 covertec)] I will end up detailing myself for a kind of battle worn LE finish since there were no official pix of what it would look like and I'll probably have a friend make a pommel that's more like the one in the trailer and I'm going to play with all three blade lengths so it's more like a great saber. But I'm definitely having red blades since I'm in the process of making Kylo Rens costume. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Sypho Ruut on February 27, 2015, 07:06:54 PM She's gonna be a beauty Kal.
I'm making myself a costume too, but i'm going for a more TOR era look, metallic paints and dirtbike armour really works wonders! Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Darth Logos on February 27, 2015, 08:14:42 PM I saw some epic looking knee pads on Amazon.
Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Sypho Ruut on February 27, 2015, 08:30:44 PM I don't know about elsewhere, but there's a couple of companies here (UK) that make some lightweight armour for HEMA sparring, you can get some pretty cool leg armour from them. Amazon is where i got my upper body armour, i was originally going to add a chest plate, but to be truthful it looks just fine without it. I can't link to the advert here of course, but if you search dirtbike armour and look for the one in all black with a segmented back, you're looking at it!

It wouldn't be fair for me to have already ordered mine, and then say "sorry, you'll have to wait till you get paid" Even if she's not terribly into sabers, it pleases me greatly to see her happy, especially as i know something like that lasts indefinitely! Yes. I have run out of patience. ::) :P Seeing as how it says in huge bold print "end of Winter 2015/start of Spring 2015" which very specifically is the end of March/start of April this applies to everyone's order. I know customers place REGULAR orders with the "other companies" and wait far far longer than this. I think you guys are a bit spoiled when it comes to our lead time. But honestly, keep your pants on, we have a LOT of sabers to make and we will get it done in the time frame we promised in the listing. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Sypho Ruut on March 06, 2015, 12:36:13 AM In light of a new soundboard appearing, it could possibly be a factor in the perceived delay. Truthfully i'd rather wait a few weeks longer than i'd expected but have the cool new hardware than get it now and it be obsolete next week ;D
Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Fott Scisher on March 06, 2015, 01:44:29 AM New soundboard? Color me intrigued, but also uninformed. Can someplace elaborate?
Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Sypho Ruut on March 06, 2015, 01:53:40 AM There's a new obsidian version just arrived, available for beta testing at the moment, my guess is that US wanted to make that available BEFORE they started sending out all these shiny new hilts, so people are still able to get them along with their preorder.
this is just my thoughts on the matter, so don't take it as gospel. If you have a look at unread posts you'll see a couple of new announcements about obsidian, or go to the US youtube channel Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Fott Scisher on March 06, 2015, 01:45:53 PM Thanks, will do sir.
Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Ren Kobar on March 06, 2015, 05:03:19 PM well i jumped on that bandwagon, requesting to have the V3 soundboard upgraded to the V4, less than an hour later i get an email saying no problem, we will add it to your preorder
Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Darth Logos on March 06, 2015, 05:22:00 PM well i jumped on that bandwagon, requesting to have the V3 soundboard upgraded to the V4, less than an hour later i get an email saying no problem, we will add it to your preorder Is there an upcharge? And what is the difference? Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Ren Kobar on March 06, 2015, 06:23:58 PM Is there an upcharge? And what is the difference? all the information on the new board can be found here http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=23252.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=23252.0) to qualify for the beta you need to be a forum member with at least 20 posts, order a saber with LI-ION setup and a buck-puck, and request to test the V4 Obsidian. the difference is its a bigger, better, more powerful board (not sure if it is accually bigger in physical dimensions, but in data capacity it is much bigger) and can load multiple fonts. i am really excited to assist in the testing of this new product, and cant wait to review both the flamberge and the V4 Obsidian Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Drahcir on March 07, 2015, 09:03:52 AM The more I see this thread the more I consider ordering this saber.
I want too many sabers. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Nowhere on March 07, 2015, 04:44:26 PM The more I see this thread the more I consider ordering this saber. I want too many sabers. ugh, i know dude, i just bought an initiate and a coupler during the raffle. i now have an initiate ve/dominix v3 staff. i also won a dark prophecy, but i'll REALLY want more. if my gaming rig wasn't in DIRE need of a hardware upgrade, i would be buying more sabers right now. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: firehand10k on March 08, 2015, 04:29:58 AM I'm psyched now. I asked for the Obsidian V4 beta to be installed in my preorder. The email reply I got told me I could but I would have a labor upcharge because my flamberge is already assembled and waiting shipment. I passed on the beta, I'll just try to get another saber with that to try out.
We're getting so close to having these. I think I might explode. Title: Re: The Flamberge Thread Post by: Ren Kobar on March 08, 2015, 05:15:47 AM oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
