ok, so not modern day - but i mean what a jedi might wear in our universe, so he can still look like a jedi yet not draw attention from haters?

i kinda want to sort myself out an outfit like this -
jumper in beige -  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221192182950?var=520135216421
trousers in beige -  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170891230137?var=470188579869
 brown boots -  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260932418397?var=560076848724
brown jacket -  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330873248821

perhaps some sort of gloves would like nice with this. or maybe a slightly less cowboy style jacket.  at least i think that would better.  of course it all boils down to what you want to look like and how much your willing to spend.

It's a neat idea, and something I've given some serious thought.  I have yet to put together my ideal "modern Jedi" outfit, but for some reason I always envision it involving a hood...

thats what i thought. i would not go for that jacket, so i had a better idea. my parents live in india (moved out there about 5 years ago) and they can get stuff made very cheap. i have asked them to make me an ankle length brown leather jacket with an oversized hood. made out there, it would normally cost me £60 (about $90) but as it has just gone my birthday they are paying. when it arrives, i will post pics - cant wait!

I've been searching around forever looking for something that would work in modern days and still have zip...the only thing I can think of is Adam Jensen from deus ex like sky dragon posted but it still seems a bit futuristic...the only thing I was ever able to come up with is to do the deus ex look except shorten up the jacket to about waist length, add a hood to match it, and remove the turtle neck and collar. But that's just me, im sure others have different ideas that would work.

I would see modern Jedi wearing something similar to what was worn by Christopher Lambert in the Highlander when he was in New York. Something like a trench coat and gloves, possibly with a hood. This is what I would envision it to look like:

so my mrs went shopping the other day, and i asked her to get me a beige jumper - so she found me a beige zip up hoodie for £10 ($13 ish). was quite happy with it, and there it is with my jedi robe and my belt i use -

score. waiting for the custom leather big hooded jacket to be made as an alternative for a jedi robe, (thank you parents!) then i shall be able to look like a modern day jedi in public without people thinking im a little weird.

That jumper actually works really well as a stand-in tabard. It looks to be on the right path toward modern day jedi clothing.

In the Star Wars universe, the Jedi wore something that helped them fit in to their environment while at the same time set them apart.

The ides for the Jumper is a good one.  I do not like Jumpers much as outer wear, but it does make a good inner layer.  However, I wear it under a good work shirt.  My over shirt is a doublet shirt.  It is comfortable and can be made of various materials to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

The BDU trousers are also a good choice, but they are not designed for long wear.  I say this from experience as I served nine years in the military.  I prefer a good pair of Dickies work pants.  Those, with a good leather belt, would last for a long time and not be uncomfortable to wear (BDU pants get uncomfortable at the waist after too long).

The boots are a good choice, but I think it should be a personal selection.  I have a pair of Israeli combat boots that I could wear forever.  At the same time, one of my friends wears her leather combat boots from Basic Training.  My boots are fairly heavy but also fairly simple and quick to lace.  I keep them highly polished (no sense not too).

My jacket is a full-length heavy duster that is fully lined and has a full hood.  It was made by my wife for my birthday and is really nice.  It is water proof, has a great deal of pockets inside of it, and can be closed with hook and eyes to completely cover me.  It is also reinforced in such a way as to allow me to do rolls and not impede my movements.

Finally, I have a modified leather belt with some built-in pouches that I wear under my shirt.  The pouches contain a first aid kit, some military survival rations, a survival straw, a full survival kit, a sheath for my knife, a clip for my ASP baton (a 36" model), and enough room for me to clip my cell phone and pistol (my CCW permit is carried on the holster).

If I travel anywhere for more than three days, I also carry my three-day assault pack (military back pack) with more survival stuff, more ration packs, a thermal sheet, and a full military trauma kit.  I can survive for about two weeks out of that pack if I need to.

Hey guys, Manchester comic con is in July and I really want to go as a Jedi and show of my ultrasabers Smiley
Obviously I can do the traditional jedi robes etc, and I can get all the tunics, pants, robes, belt and boots for about £165 (about $250) and it'll be good quality materials etc.
But then I thought along the lines of the 'modern day jedi' and started searching. Got these ideas so far:

I just need to find a suitable top and belt now, but so far these would cost me about £72. What do you think?
