The first, second, and third tier superheroes and supervillains have been wiped out by a super-virus by Dr Nefarious, who also died due to a miscalculation in the filtering control factor.  So it is up to the reserves, those lesser superheroes with unimpressive powers who are called up to duty and are required to save the day...from the lesser supervillains left behind!

Everyone has one power.

Just one.

Not a power pool or a I can do anything with this ability sort of thing...just one.

The power can only be described in one word.

After the one word, then please add color and flavor, but the power is a completely one trick pony.

For example...

Mighty Joe

Strength

Harold "Mighty Joe" Young is 87yrs old.  He has all the issues of being 87 except one, he has the strength of two young men.  He has good endurance for his age, but nothing noteworthy...so he can punch like a sledgehammer, lift a motorcycle like it was a bicycle, or the like...just not too many times and for not very long.  He does not run, he can work up a light jog or a steady walk.  He tends to nap between excitement.

or

Key Master

Locksmith

Jimmy "Key Master" Nguyen has a magic touch when it comes to locks...any locks...well any lock with a key...and actual metal key...he has an impossible variety of keys on his person, so much so that he can unlock or lock any keyed lock in a matter of seconds!  In real life he is a expert lock smith with his own van, tools, and small shop.

or

Tantrum

Sonic

Calvin "Tantrum" Hobbs looks like a mundane 7-8yr old boy...but he is not.  He is a young looking small person of 25yrs of age.  His power is to throw a fit and create a piercing wail that can shatter glass and causes most people to run away.  He can only do this a couple times in a row before he needs a snack, a nap, or at least a quiet time out.

*****

So have fun with it.  Be creative and assign your own limitations...remember these guys were considered jokes by the other supers and the general public until now.

One real power...an interesting power...a minor power...a real interesting minor power!

Cupcake

Marksmanship

Betty "Cupcake" Crocker is a pastry chef for a custom cake shop in her mundane life.  As a hero she wields cupcakes with pinpoint accuracy.

"Water"

Purification

Walter "Water" Waterson

Good ol' Walter Waterson worked for a bottled water company for fifteen hears and had the astounding ability to purify water.

A villain dumped a contaminant into the water supply? No sweat for "Water"! He'll purify the water when it comes out of the tap. Why not purify supply itself? Well, Walter's powers of filtration and purification just aren't that well honed. Still, he can make a nice glass of water! Some real, "high quality H2O"!

Bad guys, look out! "Water" is there to clean the water coming out of the city's taps, one glass at a time...oh, and he can clean kiddie pools...

Very clever and exactly in line with the 4th tier superheroes!

The fun trick is working into that one moment int eh story that Water saves the day with his unique ability.

A villain poisons the city water supply and Water strips down to his bare nothing and jumps in...saving the city but his skin turns blue, permanently...or something like that  Smiley

I'm going to really think about this one; I LOVE the bottom of the roster heroes.

There is an Idea that's been rolling around in my head for a Supervillain called "Seamstress."

Why thank you! Ever since I saw this posted yesterday, I've been trying to think of something odd, yet in line with your rules. I'll be thinking between now and when I next get on the forum to see if I can come up with something else...

Ben...sweet!

Yes indeed the lowest tier gals and guys can be loads of fun also!

mouse
Sorry, no picture available
Meet Edgar "Mouse" Fritz, he is a 21 year old accountant with terrible acne and a stutter. Mouse is indestructible, but that doesn't help much in a fight beyond not getting hurt. Of course he can feel pain, and he is of below average height and skinny as a bean pole. Not to mention that he lacks muscle mass. and he can't really shield someone unless they are smaller than him, which is unlikely. Since pain is, well, painful he can only take so much before he passes out, at which point he really is useless.

what do you think? Is his power too strong for a fourth tier super?

With the whole small mass, no strength, low pain thresh hold, etc. I would say it is powerful but nicely balanced...perhaps a significant weakness that goes right through  or creates a temporary complete vulnerability?

Something common though not like air or sunlight...hey! Maybe a common food allergy?  Peanuts?  In any form peanuts renders him vulnerable?

Eitherway, I like 'em!

How about this pic?

"'Lectricity"

Jump-start

Lenny "'Lectricity" Lang

Leonard Lang was an unassuming, kindhearted electrician who fell prey to all the great superhero cliches only to receive a seemingly useless power.

One night while working on power lines in a marshy area, he was struck by lightning, electrocuted by the power lines, and when he fell to the earth, landed in a pool of toxic ooze. Having survived all those disasters, Lenny was sure that destiny had great plans for him; but it was not meant to be.

'Lectricity Lang discovered that the great boon that had been granted to him was very minor; he could use his body's electric field to jump-start dead batteries. While it made him a hit with the lightsaber builders, it was a fairly useless power.

His body didn't have a strong enough electric field to say, power a city or even a small town. He could power a generator for a couple of hours though, and could give a fleeing enemy a taser-like shock.

People suggested that he try hooking himself up to live lines in an effort to boost his power, but he ever dared to do so, lest he earn the wrath of his wife: Nellie the Nag.

I likes him!

Tonne

Density

Johnny "Tonne" MacLeod is an average looking, average acting, and all around average guy...he likes long walks along the beach, as long as it is on a video game because he hates bugs.  Yep completely average except the day he found that tiny crystal of glitter floating from the sky after the meteor shower...he thought it was a snow flake, though in hindsight it was July, so he ate it...he got sick, real sick...then he got better.  He found that if he holds his breath, the longer he does then the more weight he can apply to himself...as long as he holds his breath...and does not move...at least not run or jump...though he can manage a series of baby steps.

The most weight he built up was just over a metric tonne...2250lbs.

When his breath is released the weight falls off in like fashion, just as quick.

Answer Man

Memory

Alister Aloysius Alberic is the Answer Man!  He knows everything...about the subjects he likes!  His main claim to fame was being a National Spelling Bee champion, 13yrs in a row.  He loves spelling.  Where ever he goes he carries books; seemingly random choices.  He can recite and spell any word from the dictionary, though he is often wrong about the definitions...it is the spelling that is important.

Other subjects he knows everything...everything...about...

Star Wars (he has melanophobia and as such Darth Vader terrifies him)
Star Trek (he has costumes from each show and season)
Sharks (he has selachophobia)
Beetles (he has a massive collection of pinned Coleoptera)
Chess (though he is too afraid to actually play anyone else)
Cars (he has never driven any car or truck, even in a video game...motorphobia)
Apples (though he does not like the taste, except for cinnamon apple sauce)
Coins (he has a large collection of mint coins, he never touches used coins as they are spoiled)
Buttons (he has a massive collection from nearly every example through out history)
Perfume/cologne (a passion of his, but he does not wear any because of a sensitive nose)

He is rather...odd...and off putting, so it makes it difficult to deal with him which is why he keeps all this knowledge to himself...unless he warms up to someone and then he does not shut up.

Tapeworm.

Johnny Tulips, is an unemployed, nerdy, overweight college student. He can't run very fast(or very far), can't jump high, or take his shirt off at the pool. He gets winded climbing stairs, and last year he got beat up by a 7 year old. He's really not someone anyone would care about, and he has a boring life, except for one thing....... He has a superpower.

SHAPESHIFTING.

That's right, he can shapeshift. The only catch is, he can only turn into one thing. A tapeworm.

Maybe a bit too much on the practical side but I go where my muse takes me sometimes.

Armadillo

Armadillo has a semi-subdermal-partial carapace along his back and parts of his limbs. It’s pretty durable and while not bullet proof it can deflect small arms fire if they’re not too close. Armadillo is able to curl himself into a ball about 3’ in diameter, which causes the plates to fully extend and cover him completely. With a running start he can get a pretty good roll going. He’s not super strong or fast so he’s limited to speeds and distances any reasonably fit person could attain. While the front of his body is not protected by his carapace in a close fight he can block things like bats and knives with the backs of his arms. When he punches it’s like he’s wearing light metal gauntlets.

In a relaxed state his carapace is only partially extended. This means he looks sort of like he’s got a really, really bad skin condition all over his back, skull, and the backs of his arms and legs. It’s not very appealing.
