One of my favorites from the day...not a great game itself, basically a D&D clone set in the post apoc future with blasters and mutants...wait what? Post apoc D&D with blasters and mutants wooooohhoooooo! lol Anyway the game has been given attention through the years and the recent one while mechanically system wise a bit...Magic the Gathering'ed with cards and such...the artwork was quite good and inspiring...for those of us who like mutants and such...what am I saying...we all love mutants and such, especially the such! So I share...I would be curious as to which image speaks to you for a character, just based upon the appearance...let the games begin fellow mutants...rise my slimy, tentacled, stinky, sisters and brothers...rise up! One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine Ten Eleven Twelve Thirteen

In no particular order of preference, would be happy with any of these... (listed by panels 1-12) 1 cobra joe 2 4 arm tech-bug 3 battle damaged synth 4 big brain weirdo 5 land-o-pus 6 fish guy or flock of red birds...since I should pick, red birds 7 smaller floater droid 8 black ooze dude 9 vulture vick 10 bug boy 11 damn...white plant, piece meal bot, or wasp horde...again, need to pick one...white plant 12 major tom, sitting in a tin can... 13 web master sid And since I demand such from myself...top three of the above 1st...4 arm tech-bug...to me he looks well rounded, equipt, and ready to adventure...tech savy to a degree and handy with a wrench! 2nd...web master...looks like a shaman type, not sure why lol, but I like the idea of him being a healer...a cleric if you will ...though the human head on his belt is ominous 3rd...black ooze...having an amorphous form, this guy could be very useful searching tight spots, getting in and out of restrictive situations, etc...I suspect a special diet of petroleum products and a susceptibility to open flame!

How about this thought...would you as a player accept extreme physical changes to reflect the power level of a given mutation for a character? Nothing for free. Now that said, the Gamma World setting as it stands is a mess...lots of wastelands, badlands, and jungles boiling over with aggressive flora and fauna...the vast majority of tech savvy communities have a strict code against muties, expelling them from their domed or floating cities. So would you rather have access to high tech, medical, and clean living just out of reach of the toxic and changed world...or...would you say YOLO and accept the powers and changes that come with them?

Here is a fun example of mutant plant character, this one has rooted onto a basic servant droid. The droid itself is just a droid, no super powers, no guns, etc. Just offers mobility, manual dexterity, and a way to interact with the world directly. I could see the mutant plant having some mobility but might be slow and awkward, high intelligence, most likely some nature of mental/psi ability...telepathy, mechakinesis (communicate/control machines), etc. Perhaps speaking through the robot?

Which of these character templates speaks to you? Assume all things fairly balanced, so if you pick the one with the big dog creature it is assumed he is an animal trainer or beast master of some sort, so most of his ability and talent would be focused on the process of training and or controlling said beast, so less on personal stuff like sword play and such. These are just line work so make of them what you will...I could see some samurai/ronin, ninja, mystics, blademasters, beastmasters, etc.

Heard of Gamma world, yet to try it. These characters make me want to try it more though...
Do love how there's all these crazy creatures, monsters, aliens, and supernatural beings, then you get to pic nine where one of the party members is basically just a buff horse.

Gamma World has gone through so many changes. It can be as wonky and gonzo as you want or as hard science as you like (within reason). The most recent version the characters change powers/mutations with action cards...kinda weird. But I am without a doubt an expert on this genre and this specific topic without a doubt...been playing, collection, and running it since the first version came out in 1976-77...big year for me actually...started focusing on martial arts, got into pen/paper RPGs, saw Star Wars on its first run, and found out how much I liked the smell of girl's freshly washed hair lol. Ask away, I am always on cue for mutant talk!

I reopen this thought...in a ruined Earth post apoc setting game, would you prefer to portray one of these characters below, taken at face value, WYSIWYG...or a non-mutated human with a stable DNA (resistant to mutation/radiation/cancer) and a bit more longevity (125yrs with an extended middle age...doesn't get "old" until 100 or so)? One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine Ten Eleven Twelve Thirteen

Lol, my wife said that Foghorn Leghorn looked like guy wearing a rubber chicken suit I do like seeing what others pick from such a collection. PS (in code) making a butterfly/sculpture arrangement that I have been quite successful with in the past, to include in friend's shipment, for his wife

And from this panel? Again WYSIWYG, within reason...big guy should be strong, guy with big choppa should know how to use it, etc. But all things should be considered equal in potential, so the skinny weirdo against the big guy with a giant dog, the same value is comparable be tween them...so skinny guy would have a trick or two to share lol. All in all, a real group of killers...reminds one of Samurai Jack IMO. Which most appeals to you for a character in post apoc setting?

Good one. I pictured them all as a cross up between Ninja Scrolls and Samurai Jack sort of setting This one is a bit more interesting...lots of weirdos in this one. But for my weird is an honorific title lol. Same applies, WYSIWYG, which most speaks to you? For a character in this proposed Ninja Scrolls/Samurai Jack post apoc setting?
