So, I got my manticore not even a week after ordering it. I've wanted one of these for a while. Originally I planned to snatch up the matnicore as an RGB saber with sound, but since that wasn't possible I went with the Bellicose instead. That actually worked well since they're both very neutral sabers that will work with any color, but the Manticore, to me, just seems like it would be brilliant in green. So that's what I got. Manticore in CG with low profile pommel., Obsidian sound, and SRD Flash on Class, and, like all my sabers, it has standard ultraedge blade.
The wonderful thing about the manticore is that it's so simple. With things like the Reaper, the Scorpion, Omen, and the Malice, you see Ultrasabers producing these very intricate blades that, in some cases, can even go a bit too far in the features department, like the Scorpion does (for me anyway, some people are into that.). But the Manticore is, as I understand it, an older design, and it shows. This is a saber that makes great use of space (its the same size as an MR or Hasbro saber hilt) but still packs in a lot of style. The lack of bells and whistles gives it a subtle dignity that can't be beat.
I went ahead and did my video review review
in two parts, one just looking over the saber, and the other actually showing it off a bit and bashing it around, which one would never do with a new Force FX saber, and that, for me, is the best thing I can say about my new ultrasaber: I went outside and beat the shell out of it as soon as I got it. And the manticore didn't seem to mind at all.
