This may be something I need to email US directly about...

Does anyone know how the switch is attached to the Initiate?  When I remove the batteries I can see the back side of the switch but it does not look to be held in by a nut or anything so I am curious if it is glued in.

I was going to look at replacing this switch with one that lights.  I have a few of them at work for a dead project that look as if they will fit but I need to be able to remove the current one first.

The Initiate came free with my Scorpion.  I've got some awesome plans for this hilt.  I can't wait to post the photos once its all assembled.

There is no nut, these switches are pressed into the hilt. I used a pair of pliers to remove mine from the hilt.

Thanks Silverback!
Before taking pliers to this I want to get everything else working as I planned before messing that part up.  I may end up just leaving it as is if I have a possibility of messing it up perminantly.  That'll be apparently obvious once I get the modifications done I want to do.  Smiley

Hi, careful with pliers you might damage the switch or hilt, A bit of masking tape around the switch will help protect it. Pliers are ok or a small screwdriver. With my second initiate I just pulled it out by hand.

When you do get it out, you could try sanding around the base of the switch to make it easier to pull out if ever needed again. I know i have designed my saber to be very easy to disassemble on the fly and this was a much needed procedure to reach that state.

PS. If you do go this way, don't do it all in one go. Sand a little all around, put it in, test how well it holds, and repeat. You want it to come out by finger easy, not just fall out.
