EDIT . . . the other thing to remember is a 2.Ch Emerald cross guard saber where at least 2 colours are available to the main blade HAS to have at least a third channel for the side LED's (power / brightness) . . . So my guess would be that all the Emerald cross guard sabers would be available in 4.Ch only, technically . . . . . BUT, maybe we ARE seeing some new Emerald functionality . . . would be very cool . . .

Not really yet . . . I've had 5 minutes with it, its a BIG hilt also . . . . . . I'm giving one of these to my older son . . . which one ? lol . . . . I'll let fate decide, lol (I'm pretty sure he'll want the Mantis, and we'll probably customise it together, be a fun project) . . .

Lev - If I missed it sorry, but don't think I saw this clearly stated:  when you played with the Emerald settings to tune the different colors, did all the blades change or just the main one?

I'm curious because you aren't familiar with Emerald and didn't comment specifically on that which makes me wonder if . . .

Figured i'd clear this up now that i have a better understanding of the emerald driver and flamberge setup :p

Unfortunately no i can't change the side blade colour ;( hopefully they'll add that feature someday!

The flicker/pulse on the side blades i can change with ch4, just switching between 50% and 100% setting. Finally got my head around that!

The FOC does seem to cause my side blades to flash too, although i'm wondering if this is due to the main blade reflecting on it and perhaps a combination of the settings going through the board. On lockup for example, the side blades appear to flicker quicker in time with the sound.

So... me just being a newbie with emerald really i think! hopefully the crossguard sabers get updated features eventually though! 

On another note, i whipped out my soldering iron and had a go at making the blade look unstable, this was the result!





Will still do a little more work to it later, and i've bought a fresh set of blades too so i can switch between I have a feeling if i dueled anyone with the unstable blades it would leave scratches/marks on my opponents blade  so, i will try to avoid that and keep them for cosplay only purposes and display.

Thats a really cool effect. A forum member posted a video on Youtube where he changed the side blades to Christmas Icicle lights. That really gave the effect of flame spitting out of the crossguards for an unstable look. Not sure if you buy them here in the UK. PittForceFive IIRC..

I have seen the icicles lights, but i'm not sure where to find them here in UK... and i kind of like being able to still block with the side blades if needed :p I'd imagine the brittle plastic of the icicles wouldn't last 2 seconds, even if caught by accident 

Does look cool though... if i ever see any cheapy ones (probably nearer Christmas time) i'll pick some up anyway just to try it for myself

They did look quite thick. I'm sure the OD was similar to the blades. But yeh, you don't want them breaking whilst dueling. I had a quick look and no, cant find anything even vaguely similar in the UK. Might find something nearer Xmas like you said.

Ooh okay that's pretty cool then! If they are fairly durable..ish, then that's awesome. I'll definitely keep my eyes open towards the end of the year!
