Wow, this is sad and completely unexpected. Anton Yelchin was Chekov in Star Trek 2009, Into Darkness, and Beyond. This is just...a complete bolt out of the blue. No drugs or anything...just a terrible, absolutely senseless accident. Damn. I actually knew a guy in high school that died from something similar. Never leave a vehicle in neutral and get out is a rule I live by. Thoughts to his family and friends.

I've literally never done that. Then again I learned to drive from an Air Force flight instructor, so it was all about following procedure.
I guess I can say that I hope people read this and that heightened awareness saves other lives.

All the times I have seen it or heard of it, it was people rushing. Jumping out of their car to grab something they forgot etc. How many accidents could get avoided by not rushing in non life or death situations. |

I've been made fun of for putting on my seatbelt to fix a parking job, or using my turn signal in the driveway. But...better to have those kinds of habits that ingrained in you, to where you don't have to think about following the proper procedure. Very sad, all of this. I saw Into Darkness with a live orchestra just last week and I remember thinking it would be a long time before I ever had to worry about anything like this with this cast.  |

Wow, this is a complete shock. He was a talented young actor. I too enjoyed him in Terminator: Salvation and think he did a great job playing Chekov. He brought that youthful exuberance to the role similar to Walter Koenig back in the '60s. It's a shame he died, and in such a terrible freak accident too.

Awww... It was only after seeing another piece of artwork on another site that I realized Walter Koenig has outlived his "successor." How heartbreaking...it's not supposed to work like that. |

He may not have left it in neutral, at least not intentionally. It looks like the vehicle at fault is a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that he owned. Though his accident is under investigation, the same model was recently recalled for a faulty shifter that has led to 41 injuries from roll away accidents. |

Where did you hear that? If that's the case, while I am not lawsuit-happy by default, that deserves a lawsuit. Doesn't bring him back, but it might mean the ability to hit harder against Chrysler for the sake of ALL potentially affected.
But first, what is the source? I don't want to go too far down this line of speculation without proof.

I read about it to on Fox News. They had recalled like 1.1 million Jeep models due to transmission faults. |
