So with the purchase of my SI and an extra 36" blade i will have 3 sizes of blades.  24" 32" and 36".  i've always used 32" and it feels just about right for anything, and its perfect for my height (5'4") in most of my hilts.
I've always wondered how much more like a light saber it would feel with a 36" blade because most of the sabers i see in videos have looong blades (i believe they are 36-42")

with the SI and a 36" blade i will have a saber approaching 46"  (my longest).  i feel i will be using it primarily in 2 hands like a katana.  i'm gettin the spare for my prophecy primarily.

will a weight difference be really noticeable between the 2 sizes of blades (32" and 36")?  i've used the 24" and man is it weightless.  and for my size i wonder how it would feel too.  i dont know how well i'd spin with a saber that big.  mainly gonna use it for kendo style drills.

You should try biggie. It started life as a 48 inch blade that I picked up off of ebay. Last week I cut a few inches off of it to gain speed and handling without giving back too much of its monsterous reach. It gives me 42-43 inches of blade out of an Aeon and other such sabers and when I really want to go nuts its good for around 40 out of my Yari. With standard hilts the total length runs 54 to 58 inches for the whole enchilada and about six and a half feet with my Yari without the extension and it can't fit through a standard doorway well with the extension.

good grief that sounds monstrous. i dont think i'll ever go that big.  just wondering how a 36" feels.  i guess its the threshold for people my height to using 2 hands.  i can hold the 32"s in 1 or 2 and it feels just a tiny bit small with 2 hands.

Yeah, its sick. I might have to cut an inch or two more off of it for the sake of handling. I'm still testing it.

The 36" seems long, but it's really not that unwieldy.  It's a noticeable difference from the 32" (and obviously the 24") but it's still quite maneuverable, at least in mid grade form.  Heavy grade presses the limit of where it becomes a bit unbalanced.  It's funny because that's where Artorius and I started - with a Dominix v1 and an Omen both with 36" heavy grade blades!

You may find that it's weird at first, but you'll get used to the extra reach... Then you'll have the chance to be spoiled by the extra reach.

It isn't unwieldy at all though, in my experience.

what will really be a nice discovery will be the limits of your operational distance increasing...being able to do more from farther away...it might take you all of 15 minutes to get used to the slight balance change.

yea i'm a mid-grade user mainly.  i'd only upgrade to heavy grades if i became a superhero or something.

but good insights none-the-less
