I'm interested in an Obsidian V4/Emerald Graflex with a recharge port and I've noticed the port install location is on the same side as the bunny ears, as in the photo. Anyone know if it's possible to get the port on the other side (facing the carpet) instead? Thanks!

Hmmm... I'm curious what they'd say?  I'd shoot them an email and just ask straight up if they can put the port anywhere else, they'd be able to answer definitively right then and there rather than us guessing Smiley

That is... unless... jee, wouldn't it be swell if we had a member of our very own saber forum who actually could just tell us exactly what the answer would be from US customer service lol?  I'm just gonna throw that out there stuxnet, I have a feeling someone will be by to answer your question lol... I can feel it in the force lol Wink

My understanding is you can request in the order comments for the recharge port to be in front, but you can not specify a specific location in the front of the hilt.

From a previous conversation I had on this subject.
Recharge ports are normally opposite and just below the switch. They can be put in front below the switch, but as the hole is drilled  post machining, there is no guarantee the port will line up perfectly with the switch and usually looks horrible.

Of course, there are people out there who can absolutely nail the position of the hole for you up front if you wanted to get someone else to do it for you... Wink

My two cents... I couldn't bring myself to even get a recharge port on my Graflex CE, even though I love them on my Electrum Wind and Bellicose, because I didn't want to introduce that type of "change" to the very iconic Graflex saber that I was going to own with an extra port like that, not to mention that beautiful nickel finish. The batteries are easy to remove and charge, as you probably already know, so just a thought to consider if you're like me and not liking how it would look on that hilt.

I feel what you're saying which is exactly why I find US's standard recharge port placement too marring of the overall aethetic, but 180 degress around the other side of the hilt wouldn't be so bad I think. I have to have ports on all my sabers. My days of yanking batteries in and out are thankfully over Cheesy

For the sake of clarity, this is what I'm after:

Excellent pics, and it does help visualize this a bit better. Aesthetically, I do like the recharge port on that other side where it looks like it might be linked in some way to the electrical pins just up and to the left of the bronze button on the front. If I were your in shoes getting a recharge port on a Graflex, I'd probably want it that way, too, but I guess it depends on whether if you grip it right there with your right hand and if that'd bother you. What about if they placed it directly in line below the electrical pins hole, so just a bit to the left of your suggested placement, which would make it more of a 90 degree shift from their usual location? That would keep that area below the bronze button on the front completely smooth and clear for you to grip. Just my two bits about it - not even sure they could place it there anyway.

Well I posted my question here b/c the forum title says "Have questions about Ultra Sabers or their products? Ask them here and our staff or members can answer them!"

So I guess we'll see Cheesy

This is where it gets dicey. Where is the "front?" It seems US refers to whatever side the switch is on as front.

Yes, front means the switch side in Ultrasabers.

Yes, front means the switch side in Ultrasabers.

I think the Graflex is unique in this aspect, though. When I ordered my Graflex I learned that the "rear" is the side with the bunny ears on it, and in this case the side with the red button, and the "front" is the side with bronze button, 180 degrees around the other side, also where the blade retention screw sits. On their website you get to choose a "front" button and a "rear" button. So the activation box and AV switch is 90 degrees from each side in the middle.

Oh, yes, I think it's the only exception from that rule. Good catch!
