We have a very active community here. Let's try to get even more people involved! Call someone out to post a video of them training, practicing, unboxing a saber, showing off a costume, etc etc!

I'm going to challenge Master Venturous to post some training!!

I posted this one in the Vd section, but I'll start us off. Not so much spinning as working combat. You'll see some quick release and flourish action in the beginning.

I wholeheartedly support this idea. Point to Ryan for coming up with it. I would like to call out Samhain (even though he said we didn't need to do it) and challenge him to post a spinning video in his Jon Snow costume.

I'm calling .... myself out.

Life is to the point where I think I actually have time to finally do this.

So, goal one is to post a video by the end of Feburary.

Goal two is to have something ready and worthy of entering in the annual Spin Wars. Dark side .

Goal three is way ambitious (at least for me) but I want to have videos of single wield, dual wield, saberstaff, saber pike, and saber spear all posted.  I'm going to aim for one each month, so hopefully all will be done by June/July.  Then the full focus for Spin Wars by year's end.

Goal four is a bit more technical, but I want to work on a, in my opinion, better saber throw.  Casting it in an arc is good, but I want to work out a mechanism for straight out and straight back.

Lemme know how that one goes, 'cause I'm not sure it's do-able without a line attached to another object in the direction you're throwing.

It is. Look at rope dart for the technique. It requires using the second hand as a reel. If you look in my more recent saber levitation videos, you can see it happen a couple times.

Here we go. This should legitimize my challenge of Samhain. Took my rapier saber for a spin and it inspired me to add a bit more fencing moves and thrusts into my usual style. It has been a while since I worked with moves like this, but I was pleasantly surprised by the integration. Since it was a bit off my usual, I considered fit for a challenge submission. Set it to Peter Gabriel.

Nice. Your technique is obviously altered...does that saber have a knuckle-bow? ( Loop guard, forward Quillon whatever you want to call it ) Be cool if it had a Quillon Block too...
