^^ Ditto. Some people are saying it is even deserving of an Oscar nomination for best picture at next year's awards.

It comes out here today (it's currently 6.20am in London) but i won't have the cash to go see it until Friday. It is one of my most anticipated movies of 2017 though

We get it in 2 days, but I likely won't see it 'til Sunday. It's my designated March movie (I like to try and set one movie to most look forward to each month).

It's for budgeting reasons. Several months have more than one I'm looking forward to (THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE and JOHN WICK 2 for February, for example), but I like to set one that I definitely can't miss (it was JOHN WICK 2 for February) so I don't spend too much, then go to the others if I have some extra cash.

Aside from that, I watch things on Netflix, FilmStruck (although I need to renew my subscription for that), and check things out from the library.

Ah. I understand. Going to the cinema can end up being ridiculously expensive. That's why, if money is tight, I always make sure to be fully fed and watered before I get there so I don't need snacks. Fortunately, with what I'll be earning at my new job, once I get paid next month, i won't have to worry about affording trips to the cinema anymore.

Anyway, on a somewhat related topic, at the beginning of the year I posted a list of all the "big" movie being released in 2017. As we are almost in March and we have this brand spanking new thread, I thought it as good as place as any to revisit the list and see what films people are excited to see. Please note - This is not a list of EVERY new movie due out in 2017

(We all know Calon is going to pick all the superhero releases. And the pirate movie)

Mar 3 - Logan
Mar 10 - Kong: Skull Island
Mar 17 - Beauty and the Beast
Mar 24 - Power Rangers

In college my local theater would let you in for $5 if you showed your student ID so I saw everything, but now I have to deal with the same prices as everyone else. Roll Eyes

I'm most anticipating LOGAN, THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, THE DARK TOWER, and KINGSMEN 2: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE. Beyond that, my "hipster" pick is BABY DRIVER (coming August 11). Cheesy

I still have to explain what he's done to most people I know (again, need better friends Cheesy).

Is he super popular in the UK?

I wouldn't say he's popular in the same way as Spielberg, Nolan or Tarantino is, but Spaced was massively popular here, as were the Cornetto film trilogy.

As much as I enjoyed Ant-man, I really wish I could have seen his version. And it's criminal that more people didn't see Scott Pilgrim.

No interest in Logan, the last ever Wolverine/X-men movie to star both Hugh Jackman or Patrick Stewart?

I would imagine so, considering he did SPACED and the Cornetto films over there. He's more of a "film nerd" name over here, where moderate movie fans are the most common people you'll see that know him, while the general public doesn't.

I remember being devastated at the news of him leaving ANT-MAN. It was probably the starting point of my Marvel enthusiasm diminishing. And SCOTT PILGRIM is one of the most underseen gems in film history.

Haven't watched the rest of the X-Men movies, so Logan isn't on there. Same with F8. Haven't finished all the other Transformer movies, so that'll be in the same boat.

As movie fans, comic book fans and genre fans, I think we often forget that when it comes to movies, there are two types of people: the movie buff (TMB) and the casual film watcher (CFW). TMBs will obviously know who Edgar Wright is, both here and in the states. He (and Simon Pegg) are both nerds and are just like us. CFWs will go to the cinema maybe once every couple of months. They don't watch new trailers on youtube 1 min after they are released. They don't watch movie chat shows or follow online movie websites, so their knowledge of the film world is very limited/surface level.

Fortunately, there will always be people like us, who will do our part to spread the love and knowledge of film to those CFWs so that as many people as possible get to watch as many great films as possible and share in the story telling experience.

Will PM details.
You can't discuss in public? Must be serious Cheesy

Ok, it's almost 7am and I have a long day of sleeping, lazying around and tv watching to do, so I should really go get some sleep. But I will leave this topic for the group to discuss in my absence:

What are your thoughts on the current state and direction of the DCEU?

It gets even crazier when you've been on the filmmaking side.
