Can anyone tell me how they preserved their saber after getting it autographed?  I got my son's autographed by Mark Hamill and want to make sure the signature does not rub off.

I would spray a clear coat over it so the autograph does not come off. Be sure to get an automotive paint that is made for metal.

I agree, automotive clear coat will most likely be your best option.  Make sure to use more than one coat for a good seal.
