This may just look like a beat-for-beat live action version of the animated classic, but who cares!

James Earl Jones voice. The recognisable music. Cannot wait for this.

Yeah that was my biggest concern when I saw the first trailer, that they had better get Mufasa to be the same, and they did so good. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!

Holy crap, look at that CGI. I'm going to see it just for that. And, darn right they needed James Earl Jones back. We'd have accepted nobody else.

Of course you'd recognize his voice anywhere, but I still gave a "woot woot" and a fist pump when JEJ's name showed in the credits. Looks pretty good.

“You think you know the depths of corruption that plague the Jedi?” Saso hissed. “I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced it, I even embody it. Every breath I take is an affront to their lofty ideals and idle Force worship… and so they seek to exterminate me.” He looked deep into Barriss Offee’s eyes, “they were not successful in purging me from the galaxy, and neither will you be.”

I think we can all agree that despite their being some great actors with iconic voices out there, NO-ONE could replace James Earl Jones as Mufasa.

I think it funny how great this trailer has been received and yet thr Aladdin trailer was viewed as a bit underwhelming. And the Dumbo trailer was good, but still not on this level.

I've read elsewhere online that some people think Beyonce may "mess this up". How? When you look at the original movie, the voice of Nala was perfect for the character but not a stand out in any way. I personally think Beyonce is a great pick. And you just know she'll have a song in the film and who better to belt out a mid-movie song that Ms Knowles?

I'm curious who they've got to replace Whoopi as the hyena and I think John Oliver is perfect to take over from Rowan Atkinson as Zazu.

People are just stupid sometimes. They think just because they don't like a person that they'll be bad in a role, without seeing (or, in this case, hearing) them in that role. So, they'll judge them before the movie is out. I'm thinking of the quality of her voice from the stuff I've seen her in and I think she's a good choice too. But, I'll reserve judgment for when I see the movie.

Personally, I think they've put together a good looking voice cast for this film. The original had a really good cast, so they had to pick a good group of people to do the new one, and I'm liking what I see.

Here's how the two casts stack up. I think we're in safe hands.

The Lion King (1994)                  The Lion King (2019)
James Earl Jones                        James Earl Jones
Jeremy Irons                             Chiwetel Ejiofor

Rowan Atkinson                         John Oliver
Whoopi Goldberg                       Alfre Woodard
Robert Guillaume                       John Kani

I'da liked to hear Irons back in the role, but that's alright.

I would have liked Jeremy Irons back too, but that's why we have the original to watch too. Smiley Besides, Chiwetel Ejiofor is a good actor too, I'm looking forward to his portrayal of Scar.

So, do we think this is going to be a shot-4-shot remake or do you think Favreau will change things up like he did with The Jungle Book?

I don't think it will be a straight shot for shot remake. Jon Favreau is way more creative than that. I'm sure he'll find ways to put his own spin on it and still stay mostly true to the original.

It's nice to see that he seems to have found a home at Disney, between directing and producing.

I think for the most part, Jon will have the basic storyline down but will have his own tale and vision within the movie so it won’t be take for take.  I’m an admire if his work and I’m sure he Emmy let us down one bit.
