what do you think about an obi for the belt?  It'll spread the belt compression (aka belt gut).  I'm not seeing indentation on you but, many of us have the same problem if we cinch a belt around...

Plus, it'll add a layer.  layers and textures will make the all black materials stand out more.  I can't quite see what you're shirt/tunic is because of being a single material/layer.  I assume that's related to what you meant by missing the Soft parts.  stuff that's in the works.

I'm liking the gorget.  it reminds me of the upper shoulders/plating darth vader has (though yours is completely different) before we see clothing, etc.


Is it possible to curve those shoulder pads (the rectangles) more so the  front and back edges don't flare up like we see more in the right-side picture?  I'd like to see that edge held down more so I'm not looking "under" the armor.

Seeing the blade reflected in the mask is very nice.  That's menacing.

okk so just to tackle the current response…

TThe nly soft item I currently have is the tabards via cardigan.

the rest should be ignored as it was used just to make it all look less "street"

Ill be purchasing the black short sleeved tunic with hood and an obi from FFA when the funds are enough.

I think I will need to build out a belt a little more (almost wore my jedi belt just for styl looks)

The armor doesn't seem to want to stay as rounded as iI'd ike and I think I'm going to have to wait for the rest of the outfit to truly fit everything in place. I did seem to figure out how to get the pieces to work together a little better with some strapping.

I'm just glad it iisn't looking dumb

Ok...It's getting close to decision time on some of the soft parts.

Here are my choices:

Far Far Away Outfitters - Short-sleeve Hooded Tunic in black


VS

Cosplay Sky Star Wars Anakin Skywalker Cosplay Costume Outfit Black Version


Both are going to run around the $70 mark once I include an Obi with the FFAO hooded tunic.

I would get MORE with the CS outfit but would probably discard the belt and (for this build) the robe as it wouldn't work with the armor (though I'm open to seeing how it ends up). The sleeves on the tunic would be long and I would have to figure out how to deal with it when I wear my bracers. On the plus, pants and flexibility for future outfits. Many of the costuming clubs poo-poo the CS robes as they can be hit-or-miss. Also, this can be ordered MINUS the outer robe...So, there's that.

Cons with the FFAO tunic is that it is just a tunic and obi and a future purchase of a cape would need to be made. Also, I am pantsless (but I do have some potential items in my closet).

I'd really like to hear some thoughts on this!

FFA feels like a known quantity.  the fabric and stitching is going to be top notch. The short sleeve tunic will accommodate your braces and shoulder pads.

You can hang a cape from the pads.  Or leave off the armor and instantly be a jedi.

Now maybe a hoodless version would be a better multi-use, as that would accommodate robes in Jedi mode.

But I feel like that FFA is going to be a better piece than the full Anakin garb if it's from a mass production company (I think For Tyeth said Cossky was good, but otherwise...).


I recall seeing pants mentioned as a factor.  Do not make a decision based on pants.  That's a $30 part from FFA or Target for some Dockers. The latter have pockets and are screen accurate.  That's probably my one regret purchase is my FFA pants are well made but it's the one part I can source from a normal store and come out ahead (pockets!). Costume or period-replica pants just don't fit like modern does.

Glad to help.  I've got my own waffling with those FFA pants for my costume   Which I did upload some pics with the mask and pants, but nobody saw. If you get a moment, tell me what you think.

ok…decided to go with FFAO as my choice and now iit's own to hooded plus cape (later purchase) vs non hooded plus hooded cape (later purchase)

with the former, Ill always have a hood integrated vs the latter where hood and cape are separate items

What do you folks think is the better aesthetic?

Man that last picture is killing it when put together, I can see a Darth Malix vibe working with the armor. I feel like the purchase of an under tunic will smooth out the section between shoulder armor and bracers surely. And it's ironic how the samurai vibe will resonate with OG Vader ideology of design as well. I love the mix of a Kendo style grill/mask with the reminiscent of samurai style shoulder and upper arm guards. It's awesome mixed with the reflective nature of that helmet shining your red blade back as mentioned. I do understand the desire for a hood, but question how well it'd work with your current setup... Though a cape would be a great addition surely. A hood would be properly Sithy but detract from the accents and overall feel your helmet exudes. You worked soooo hard to turn that into a win, it just seems a shame to diminish it by shrouding it unnecessarily. You've really done such a great job crafting all that armor, it just seems such a waste to not highlight it and potentially limit it's impact (to my eye anyway).

I still feel in favor of a hood.  One being that it continues the feel of Sithness.  Deviating too far from and folks won't see it as you do.  I've seen that in my steampunk jedi outfit and even the recent sith-ish outfit to work with the red blade.  If it misses on enough key attributes...

Another reason for the hood is layering.  While the hood hides aspects of the mask, it also adds intrigue. A person can see hints of detail beneath the cowl, they know it's there.  That you didn't stop where the shadow fell.  Glimpses of detailing can be more powerful than a full display.

Plus, you can dramatically pull the hood back...

I agree on both plus the layering aspect. Think about those sweet shots of Malgus all hooded up and maul in the tattooine desert. Shrouded in darkness until the big reveal

I'm just questioning the overall look minus the cape with a hood attached to the tunic
