I thought I'd get some input on this topic to see what everyone else thought; But, do some of the hilts designed by US gear more towards one form or the other?

And blade length; Would one blade length be more suitable for a lightsaber Form compared to another length?

I think this has been brought up before, but it's an interesting topic.

I'll personally start with Makashi, since I seem to be the "go-to" guy for that.

For the blade you want light weight in order to allow for fine movement with your fingers and wrist.  Quickness and precision are key, and it's hard to achieve those if the blade is too heavy.  What is a "light blade"?  I recommend midgrade (regular or Ultraedge, doesn't matter), and if possible go for a 32" for a good single-handed saber.  Very light and very maneuverable.

For a hilt it doesn't matter as much, but I do recommend the Prophecy and Initiate lines.  They're short and lightweight, and would act nicely as a single handed weapon.  Along those same lines I've heard the Liberator line is quite light and elegant, so perhaps that would be appropriate as well.  My custom Ultra Luke makes me think that the Archon would be a good choice as well - it's slightly shorter than average (11" IIRC), and has a choke point that gives your single hand a great place to rest.

I had written a list of hilt types that seemed suitable for the forms give or take.

Shii Cho: Double handed, very durable and basic
Makashi: Nothing bigger than hand and a half, tight control of the wrist. Possibly a choke point
Soresu: Hand and a Half, hilt needs to focus on maneuverability but also reliance.
Ataru: Same as Soresu
Djem So/Shien: Double handed/Hand and a Half. The hilt needs to allow for good grip.
Niman: At this point, personal preference, I would say hand and a half/double handed for control. Main focus is on defense
Juyo: At this point, personal perference, I would say hand and a half/double handed for control. Main focus is on attack

Excellent! Thanks Uilos!

Anything off the top of your head as far as specifics go for a Soresu practitioner?? I was thinking the Archon, but not sure....

I'd have to go through the catalog again, But Archon could work. Decent control but the small grip allowing for fast spins and movements.

Gotcha. That's what I was thinking as well with the smaller, flanged grip on the Archon.

If you come up with anything more on a Soresu hilt, please let me know! Comparisons and side by sides are welcomed Smiley
