I'm just outside Philly in PA, I'd love to have a weekly or by-weekly meet up with other saber enthusiasts.

ice, PA Jedi (Philadelphia) still exists, they're a choreo group with extremely limited sparring.

Next class might be May 18th.

I am near Hershey PA willing to travel a bit for some dueling.

Hello, Capital City Jedi Knights is a choreography group (no dueling / no sparring) near you, if you are interested.

Grand Rapids is a bit of a haul from here but not insurmountable with some planning.

I gotta say, the idea of a choreographic club sounds appealing...I am way down in South Tex'ass but still I like this idea.

Gives you time to build relationships, learn positions and techniques without breaking your toys ("I broke my sabre the first day!"), and in general lets you develop a style which is far different than imagining that you are doing the same with amateur efforts like saber practice with Joe (Darth "insert") down the street and Sam (Grand Master Jedi "insert") your kid brother.

Then from there, find a sparring partner.

A good plan in my book, especially for the untrained and those who just want to be part of the situation without breaking knuckles and toys  Smiley

As I'm sure you're aware, there are a few choreo clubs in Texas, but they're mostly middle of the state, near Austin and Houston. I'd imagine that's a several hour drive. There's also 1-2 groups in San Antonio.

Houston is a 250mi 4.5hr drive...one way   Shocked

Austin is a 240mi 4.25hr drive...one way   Angry

San Antonio is a bit more reasonable, 175mi 3.1hr drive...one way  Roll Eyes

It would be nice to meet up with a group but at $3.70 a gal...every trip I could buy at least one saber if not two lol...sigh...

HAHA!!!! 3.70 a gallon... Man Texas looks better and better everyday.

My parents just bought 16 acres of land for half the price it would cost me to buy 3 acres of land out here.... Man I'm so jealous... What I would do with 16 acres.

I would look to Nevada long before I would ever consider Tex'ass...just too hot.  It is a huge state with lots of environmental options, but the great places to live know it and charge you for the privilege...nothing inexpensive.

I have been looking at Nevada to open a themed camp/bed and breakfast (think a space colony station like Space:1999)...loads of adult (not "adult"...but rather not kid focused or even that kid friendly...some light science, digging for alien bones/artifacts, etc.), dome buildings, hydroponics, and more.

The land I was bidding on is 40mins East of Reno, 10 acres for $5000.

Hot during the day (I see solar radiation to run my light collectors and heat my black surface elements)
Cool/cold at night (used to keep the facility cool the next day with underground air circulators)

There are great deals if you just want land...some near lakes.

Yeah I just got enough of Tattooine with Iraq and 29 Palms. I always feel more in touch with things, and more balanced when there are lots of trees and such for me. I like the humidity in Texas believe it or not... makes it easy to lose weight when you want to.

Same here... Tatooine all through both Saudi and Iraq...

Ya'll could just come join me in San Diego. It's expensive as hell. Gas prices are high ($4.17 is the cheapest atm). My 1 bedroom apartment is $995/month. Traffic sucks.

But... We've got beaches... babes.. bikinis.. wonderful weather ALL YEAR ROUND. The job market is not bad.

Oh did I mention we got babes? In bikinis?? On the beaches???

lol I'm already out here! I scored my Cali girl too HAHA!!! I had my eye on a 3 acre property out in Vista, there's no house or anything on it, and it costs 155,000 dollars. If I were to get the job I'm going for, I would probably snag that up and put a house out there, and probably a killer workshop/possibly a training room as well.
