Hello from an old man

Hello from Mexico, I am a 41 years old star wars fan and one who went to see the first movie back in 1977, this movies changed my life, use to collect figures for years, but then got to college and being young and stupid I donated all of them to charity, there were more than 300 of the old Kenner models.

I am an avid Iaido practitioner for several years now, and surfing the net recently I discovered lightsaber thecniches teached at martial arts dojos and a new horizon open in front of me, I want to open a dojo for Iaido and lightsaber practice. Used to have an Obi Wan hasbro lightsaber, but sold it recently to buy a dominix v3, consular green with sound from ultrasabers, it arrived today and I am a happy man!

Been training for some months now with a pvc LS that I built, hope this dojo project could see the light in 2 or 3 years, for now, greetings to all!

I wasn't around for the original releases myself, but I understand you about the figures. My Sis had a sizable collection, and though I focus on my props and costumes (with a side of ship models) I do keep a small collection of figures. My old Kenner 1995s, my casual attempts to duplicate same in NOC condition, and 6 or 7 loose originals gifted from friends and family over the years. My favorites are the original X-Wing Pilot and a sealed Trilogy Edition Wedge Antilles.

I reall hope that wasnt an obi wan hilt from the first two movies....those are so rare now you could have sold it as is, bone stock for up to 2000 USD on ebay....

im hoping it was just an obi wan rots hilt so you didnt get fleeced

Did Hasbro even do TPM hilt? I thought that was only an MR model...

Veldryne, I think is the TPM one, I bought it from amazon in 124 usd with removable blade, your lightsaber moves are fantastic, I have watched your videos, any advice on how to do what you do?

Firstly, thank you for the recognition.

Secondly to try and answer your question. I had a bit of karate, and aikido training when I was in And just out of high school. When I got back into sparring in April, I took as many videos as I could and sought feedback from the various masters.

Now it's even easier thanks to darth nonymous and vornach. Their videos even inspired the other masters to take more videos.

What I would suggest is to start with the terra prime shii cho videos. Even just do 30 min a day. Each day do one of the videos, do them in order. Once you have gone a couple weeks, start doing two videos per day.

Add me on google+ as well, and I'll be happy to help you and give you feedback.

I have a thread somewhere on how to build a training dummy. Solo practice working on the six target zones can help immensely. As the masters are always fond of saying... Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Don't crank through attacks , go through it nice and slow. Having a couple full length mirrors nearby as well can help because you can see how your body is moving.

I'm actually quite honoured that you would ask me for advice on this.

Thanks for your response, you are very fluid, that`s what caught my attention, I have been practicing in a very serious manner Iaido for over 4 years, I use lightsaber for warm up and then do my Iaido practice, I want to get fluid in spins and orbits to then have the guts to try and do some serious interpretation of lightsaber forms around several Iaido styles, right now I think Shii cho and Makashi can be mixed with Iaido and Batto-do more easier than others, I hope one day I can bring the japanese Katana techniques as master nonymous did with chinese sword techniques.

I have seen Nova and Caine from the FX forums and they are good too, but for free sabering, you are in the right track my friend =)

Thats Awesome Xango! I was there for the 1st release of A New Hope in 1977 as well.  I was just a little tike, but I remember seeing the preview adds on TV and running to tell my Mom that I wanted to go see The Star Wars movie! 
Man I wish we had a lightsaber Dojo where I live! LOL

Welcome aboard.  38 myself and I still have some of those old Kenner figures from the 70's.  I absolutely love them.  I'll have to post some pics so that you can relive those memories.  Never be upset about your age and Star Wars or anything for that matter.  Age is just a number and if no one told you what the number was, how old would you be?

Now I know where those fantastic signatures come from, they are from the MMORPG SWTOR right?
 I will be strong and will fight the urge to play it for the sake of my job and family!
