Hey guys. I need some help here. For Halloween I want to be a Togruta Sith. My only props so far are a shiny red cloak and my silver bladed saber. I can customize the saber color, but I don't know where to get lekku. Help? Oh look! Picture! Ideas where you can make/get lekku?

For a Togruta head piece you might have to make it. If you want Twi'lek lekku you can order them from Pam. http://chucrew.com/index.htmI know that they run about $150 (ish) + shipping. And you have to pant them yourself. I think my husband may have someone who makes Togruta headpieces. I'll ask him.

I was thinking about doing something like this too. My plan for the lekku was going to consist of a cardboard/carstock head piece with foam over it and pillow stuffing in the tail part all covered in a thin fabric or I read stockings make good coverings too if you do it right.

I asked some RL people, and they suggested lots of hair gel for the headtails and painted plastic for the horns.

I'll be honest you have less then 2 months to iron this out; I don't think its going to come together the way you want it to.
If I where you, I would do a more human style Jedi and work on the Togruta for next year.
My big cosplays take about a year to finish and get looking right. And since your going to be dealing with body paint and latex along with having to put a costume together I just don't think your going to have time.
And I rather you have a costume than none at all. Its just my two cents take it or leave it.

That way you have time to iron out...
~What body paint to use, and how put it on. Airbush is what I have is the best
~Get your headpieace either made or bought, and painted, also you will want to get used to wearing it and learn how to put it on. Paint your body to match your headdress not the other way around.
~You will need to learn how to navigate in the full costume, aka you will have not only robes on BUT a pretty big head dress that you weren't born with and you will need to learn either how to deal with doors and lightsabers
And that's just the few things I thought of off the top of my head I know there will be more.
Anyway there are a lot of human-like Jedi races out there that aren't human (if your like me and hate being a human when given a choice in the matter).
Like Miraluka for one, they are pretty cool. And the masks are pretty easy. You can just get some bandages and wrap your eyes. Though since you do where glasses you will either need to wear contacts or make a mask that will sit over your glasses, which is do about.
Anyway that's just an idea for you, I would spend sometime on the wiki looking at the human-like races for some ideas.

The problem with Ashana though is that she's missing an eye, lekku, and has a bunch of scars on the right side of her face. Short of using the weedwhacker (which would be painful, come with a hospital bill, and I don't want to be disfigured for life for the sake of cosplay ) how am I going to work that in?

I can teach you how to do scars and such. The eye will be difficult, but you could use tissue and liquid latex to make your eye look very jacked up, and you would have to get a custom lekku made, or you would have to damage it yourself.

The real issue here is the unavailability of a non-Asoka version and the potential of skills to build one. I gave this subject lots of thought earlier this year and had a forum member offer for me to make them one. Once I quoted the price for materials alone...the subject was dropped I would say that it could be done...most anyone who can made costumes and masks is doing so and would be too busy to take on your project at this time...but your timing is off I am afraid. To make a set that is elegant without being overly large or out of balance is a trick. I could and would do it...but you are looking at $500 without paint for a dragonskin and fiberglass head piece. You could make an inexpensive version with plastic film and latex or silicone...but your painting skills would need to be ridiculously good to provide a clean finish...$75-$100. All in all, you picked a great alien...but also a huge investment of time, money, and commitment. Best of luck with your project!

Togruta's and Zabrak's are two of my favorite Star Wars aliens.
Agreed though Togruta's are tough.
