I see no reason why any one has got their panties in a bunch.  Far as I can tell or am concerned you have every right to use to ladies room.  Every one else needs to mind their own business.

I think too many people can't get past their own biases. I look more female to someone who doesn't know me than I will for a while to someone who knew me as "he." It's a perception thing, which is something I think some don't understand.

This bathroom thing is ridiculous, I’m a cis woman and sometimes I get crap for it. When I go to visit some of my friends we usually end up at this certain store. When I have to use the bathroom in that store the women’s is always closed for cleaning. Every fricken time!  Luckily there is one family bathroom and that’s the one that I use instead, however, when I get out there is always someone standing there with a judging look on their face that practically screams “Why did you go in there? You’re alone.”  Even the janitor did it! The janitor, standing in the doorway to the women’s bathroom and holding a mop, gave me the look. People are dumb.

Trans people are fairly rare, so most of the people this will effect are cis. 9.5 / 10 the person you give crap for being in "the wrong bathroom" will be cis. I've seen plenty of people of both genders who could honestly go either way, including myself before hormones. If I grew my hair out a bit and kept up on shaving I looked like a girl, it was not uncommon for me to be gendered female by people. Cis or trans, I'm pretty sure if someone asks what's in your pants to determine if you can use the bathroom, they're getting punched in the face.

By the way, that part that makes people all up in arms? It's tiny and doesn't work. Porn isn't real life, those girls stop tking hormones to film then go back on.

I don't know where you live ThreadJack, but in the PacNorthwest this is what is expected. You go to the bathroom in the gender you are presenting/identifying. It is really interesting to me that other parts of the US and the World treat this differently.

I agree with Noctis and LAK as well.  you belong in the ladies room and tell anyone that disagrees to re-evaluate their life and thinking.

People can be very afraid of change, they get too rooted in their way of "the way things should be".  For all of the complaints about how the world is going to heck, it is actually getting better in a lot of ways, and things that were once considered taboo are becoming more and more commonplace.  

I also want to commend you for posting a pic of yourself.  I had always assumed you never did because of shyness.  I'm happy to see that you are becoming more and more comfortable with who you are now. I've been meaning to ask whether you actually prefer to be called Tj or Brooke here, or if it matters to you.

I don't think you meant this maliciously, but that's a bit unfair to say. Not all women are cis, and having "male" genitals doesn't mean I'm not a woman.

I agree things are largely getting better. I'm of the frame of mind that the problems we have aren't new. The internet exacerbated them somewhat, but it did not create them. People were always materialistic, stubborn, confrontational, mean spirited, etc. It's just A) We actually see it now and B) They can now hide behind the relative anonymity of the internet to say and act how they wish they could in their everyday life. The media also reports heinous crime more than they did in the past, so not that it happens more, just you hear about it every time, whereas even ten years ago it may only have popped up occasionally.

Thanks! I've only recently become comfortable taking and posting pictures of myself, which is nice for a change. As far as the name, either is fine. "TJ" in this case is just the initials of my username, so it doesn't bother me. Though Brooke would be nice too.

I think you may be onto something. Most people's "understanding" of TGs in predominantly men (dangly-bits and all) that had boob jobs and cross dress with indeterminate.....appetites, as opposed to individuals whose physical being contradicts how their brains identify.

I'm still trying to get the girls in my life to understand "my brain works like yours(especially after being on hormones for so long), and it always did." And the guys to realize "my brain DOESN'T work like yours, never did."
