Sorry to hear that Jev, I hope she gets back to you.

Me too. However, I'm not holding out hope.

This is the threshold moment where someone either continues being a good friend for many, many years, or they abandon me like everyone else has.

Given that in my 41 years of life, only one person has crossed that threshold and continued as my friend, statistically speaking, the chances of The Girl passing it are slim to none.

It sucks, especially since she's the first person in a long, long time who has managed to instill in me some hope for a normal, happy life.

People need to think before they open their pie holes, and not cause undue drama and hurt with stupid comments that aren't needed, accurate, or even reflect what they wanted to say!

It's a conspiracy! They don't wan't you working on your own vehicle, they want you spending money at the dealerships to get things maintained.  Tongue

It's flipping annoying isn't it? At least I can still change the damn oil on my car, some of the newer ones you need a damn degree to do it.

Okay, you come to us for engineering support.

We give you support.

Apparently, the answer you got wasn't what you wanted to hear, so you whined to upper management that you aren't getting engineering support.

Go eat a textbook.

Chrysler Cirrus - To change your battery you have to remove the front drivers side wheel.
'96-99 Dodge Caravan - to change rear bank sparkplugs you must disassemble the intake manifold, remove the hood, remove the wiper tray, and lay across the forward bank.
'94 Mazda 323 - to replace your alternator you have to find the alternator tensioner bracket worm by feel, use a box wrench on a string so you can pull it back out when you drop it down onto the splash guard, run the worm all the way out so that you can access the mounting bolts underneath, then after youve done all of that you need to go clean out all of the scrapes you've gotten from rubbing your hands against various rough edges in the compartment, and then do the reverse to get the new one on.
'08 Dodge Caravan - You have to take it to a dodge dealership to get your transmission fluid replaced because it is sealed with a proprietary bolt that they don't sell the tools for.

Cars have been like that a looooong time, across all manufacturers. My first real car(not a beater I scrapped after a few months) was an 02 Dodge Neon. To change a headlight bulb my dad and I had to remove the entire air filter assembly, the hose assembly for the radiator, and the entire headlight(there still wasn't enough space to pull it out). My next car, a Subaru Forester was actually easy to work on(both my 04 and my current 05), as the engine shape meant it took up relatively little space in the bay. The only thing was you needed a lift to get under it because that box shaped engine also means some things are better accessed from the bottom. My 03 Ford Escort Zx2, was a b-word. It was small, light, nimble, and great on gas, but that also meant a cramped engine bay with no easy access to most components.

Neon

Forester

Escort

The Audi I'm working on getting.

Looks like that won't be changing anytime soon.

However my 95 Chevy S-10 was awesome to work on.

(Look at all that space!)

My 2010 Honda Fit is fairly easy to work on. My 03 Toyota Tundra is really easy to work on and I had a 95 Chevy S-10 too! We had to replace a header gasket and that was a breeze (as much as tearing apart an engine is a breeze)
