Yeah, yeah. We all are. Tongue

1) How much is the ticket?
2) Ask someone if it might be worth fighting.
3) Deferred infraction is a program, at least in IN, where you pay a little extra, keep your nose clean for the requisite duration, and the ticket disappears from your record without your insurance ever knowing.
Thank you sir, I will turn my outrage to something more productive by seriously looking into #2. After more looking, I believe the ticket is $50 plus a (expletive) $90 surcharge court fee. No #3 in NY.
Thank you for hearing my vent.

No problem. If there is one thing I can rage over, it's traffic.

I got a ticket once for "Failure to wear a proper restraining harness" aka "No Seat Belt"
The vehicle I was in at the time was a 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible... it was built before seatbelts were mandatory, let alone shoulder straps (most in that era were a canvas loop that attached to the roof, since this was a convertible, no roof...)

I went to court showed pictures of the car to the judge, judge called the officer a dumbass and fined him $50 for wasting the courts time and told him he needed to go learn traffic laws if he was to enforce them.  All in all, that was a great day... I miss my Uncle and his cars...

My Sith saber Terception broke on me again x.x I just need a saber I'm more used to. Just the pommel messed up so. Still able to put it back on but its really annoying for sure. Its retention screw set up type rather than usual threaded. Going to work on getting me a couple new Sith sabers. Still possibly a Bane and now thinking an Aeon V4 LE would look sweet in Blazing Red too =] Will have emitter windows, black av switch and covertech wheel, and War Glaive pommel as well. So yeah today hasn't been going so well for me x.x

That is a great story! If only there was footage of that court appearance, it would be a YouTube sensation. Thank you for lightening my somber mood.

Yeah, this was 20+ years ago, when I was in my early 20s... pre-You Tube, pre-camera in every hand... I feel blessed actually by knowing my stupid moments weren't captured on film and preserved on the internet for all to see...

Be careful what you wish for. It stopped raining here, and then it was like in the mid-90s for a solid week.

Honestly that wouldn't be too bad. 60s and raining isn't JUNE weather IMO. And when it's not raining, it's just cloudy, gray, and overcast.

I got a just got a ticket for, “not wearing a seat belt”?!? Really?!? What is that?!?! How is that a violation worth being pulled over?!? How can an officer even observe that at 60 mph?!?
During the course of my regular 20-25 minute each way, mostly thruway I-90, daily commute to work, I observe some of the most heinous and egregious acts of dangerous driving known to human kind. On a daily basis!!!! Crazy excessive speed, dangerous lane changes, road rage, going way too slow in the left lane, texting, talking on the phone, smoking drugs, on and on... I see this everyday. Am I doing any of that? NO!!! Just driving along, almost to the last exit right by my house, I undid my belt to reach over and get my sun glasses because the sun was actually out for once, and 30 seconds later there is a trooper right up my rear end like a maniac, lights flashing and pulling me over like some sort of bank robber.  Not speeding, texting or doing anything potentially dangerous other not having my seat belt on for a short period of time....
There is a court appearance date or I can just plead guilty by mail and pay a fine. According to google in NY it’s $50 plus court fees (probably another $50), probably not worth showing up to court to fight. But hell, that’s the price of a mystery box saber shipped!
I’m not getting political, just venting, but this sure seems more like harassment than an effective use of law enforcement. Ugh.

What kind of car were you driving? I've seen studies that say what car you drive has as much to do with whether or not you get pulled over(if not slightly more) as your actual driving does.

And my last ticket was for "failure to obey traffic control device." Meaning instead of waiting in the line of cars, at the light that just turned red, only to make a right, I instead simply went through the parking lot of the convenience store at the intersection, coming out the back exit/entrance and onto the road I was planning on turning onto anyway..... yeah the cop hidden in the parking lot across from the intersection thought THAT was an issue.

The last two times I was pulled over I was not ticketed. One was simply a warning because the exhaust on my old beater Ford Escort was "excessively loud." It did have a hole in it, and was loud AF. Then in December I was followed into a gas station because I didn't go through the routine check point first, and then turn back and go to the gas station.  Roll Eyes

Hmmm.... perhaps the trooper has something against Jedi or House Targaryen. I hadn’t even considered that factor.

YUP. Trooper was clearly of the imperial storm variety. Lame.

Back when I had Baby I got a ticket for making an illegal turn, apparently they don't like it when you drive over the median on a deserted road. The cop who stopped me had been parked in a drive way to an abandoned property and couldn't stop laughing.

Ummmm... That was my intial point tx, keep the public safe and enforce real traffic laws that I see abused on a daily basis instead of harassing law abiding citizens for not wearing a seat belt for 30 seconds.

I read your post, you wondered how he could see you not wearing a seat belt at 60 MPH but yet you see a ton of infractions worse then yours every day? I assume at 60 MPH. Then you go on to say how you took off your seat belt to reach across your car while driving, I would think that is just a tad dangerous. And I just can't believe he treated you like a bank robber. I mean really he did a felony stop on you? You had to turn off your car, get out, get on your knees, maybe even your stomach etc..?

Did you follow around this guy ask day to see if he pulled over any of these other kind of dangerous drivers you see every day? I doubt it, so really you have no idea what he does for the 8, probably 8 plus hours he is working.

Alrighty then... my apologies for misinterpreting the purpose of a “venting” thread to be in the spirit of blowing off a little steam from day to day frustration with perhaps other members validating one’s subjective experience.  My bad. Just the old social worker training coming out.
