ah but the wonderful laws here say that if I raise a stink they can refuse service and have you escorted out by the police. This is what you get from a combination of gov interference (this makes us qualify for less than half the mortgage we did last year) and a business that freaks out if it does not post $6 billion in pure profit every year. We now have a deal with a private lender.

Looking for work sucks, I once went 2 years without so much as a call so at least feel good they are communicating with you. I hope you find something decent soon.

During a stint of unemployment I was quite desperately applying anywhere and everywhere because a) I needed money (bills don't seem to pay themselves and the family is NOT self-sustaining without cash flow) and b) I was so sick of being home all the time, I needed out of the house.
I had actually been applying at fast food restaurants, for anything, and I got a call from a local McDonalds.  Went in, first interview went great, got called in for a second, that too went great, got called to have a third.  Store Manager, District or Regional Manager, and Franchise Owner all present... Franchise Owner and Store Manager are ready to offer me a job, not just any job, the assistant manager job (At this point, I was almost 40 and had NEVER worked in the food service industry EVER)... District/Regional guy - "Do you speak Spanish?"  Me - "Come again?" D/R Guy - "Are you bilingual?"  Me - "uh... no."
"Sorry, we can't offer you the position. Thank you for your time."

What a kick in the balls... found out that meant I couldn't work at any of the 10 McDonalds within driving distance of home, as he was the Corporate representation for the area.

Hits close to home.  When My wife and I first moved to Southern Florida I was actually unemployed for 3 years...Every job I applied for or had an interview for asked if I could speak Spanish.  When I answered no, it was quite obvious I went to the bottom of the list.   Thank goodness for Skyrim and the saberforum or I would have gone completely batty.

I can understand some localities requiring employees speak Spanish or other languages. South Florida may be one, where you're going to routinely deal with people whom are more comfortable communicating in Spanish. Around here it doesn't come up much. My friend, who lives in a larger city, was turned down by McDonald's for not speaking Korean. Tuns out that location was in Korea Town, so it made sense wanting employees who know Korean, because most customers you encounter will be speaking it.

I'm looking into Amazon, if that tells you how desperate I am. Like JE said, bills don't pay themselves, and I'm tired of the collectors blowing up my phone daily, looking for money I don't have.

Today has been a day, a woman that I greatly admire asked me for advice on getting together with the woman I love. She has an actual shot at it so I gave her the usual advice, "Talk to her, you haven't a shot in h*** if you don't talk to her.". We have a new GM and she hates me because "they keep coming to you, stop answering them, tell them to talk to me.", so who knows how long I will be there. One of our best employees was busted for possession with intent to distribute. And I feel that old familiar friend depression sitting on my shoulders with all of the usual (for me) symptoms, my back hurts, I feel exhausted, cloudy headed, head aches, everything tastes bland, my hands are stiff and uncoordinated, and I can't sleep. I don't know how long I can hang in here.

Why can't people shut there dogs up or bring them inside after 10:00 pm. What would happen if I just stood on my terrace and shouted a word every 5 seconds for 3 hours every night? UHHHGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

You should do it and see... well maybe not...  Personally, I'd do it but I'm a jerk like that when I don't get sleep or when I get super annoyed.  (It takes a lot to irritate me to that point but if it happens you are .. well you get the idea.

Very. I raise my animals, shoot my guns right off my front porch, and don't deal with any damned HOA's. So nice. It doesn't cost much to get a couple acres in the country and finishing out a cabin shell costs way less than a house in the city. I recommend everyone do it before the zombie apocalypse hits.

I miss it, been living in the middle of concrete too long.  Few more years and it will be over hopefully

No thank you, I'm trying to get OUT of the sticks. Too many closed minded people here, and an already crappy to nonexistent economy is a big reason I don't have a job. Not a nice area for someone like me. I think I may have to just pack up the car and move soon.
