Does a Red saber make you a sith or dark jedi?

Agreed, very confusing!  I remember reading NJO and her losing her one red lightsaber to Tsavong Lah, then she resorts to another saber... which also turns out to be red.  Huh?  I guess Luke is just handing out red dark side sabers from all the bad guys he's killed...

Ah sorry, I see now.  Still, the same goes for Leia - the novels don't really give an accurate or consistent description of lightsaber colors...

I've noticed that blade color isn't described very well - if at all - in most of the books. It's pretty annoying, seeing as blade color is a pretty important detail.

Its probably due to the fact that some darksiders infuse the synthetic crystals with dark energys from the force that i got the idea that red saber crystals are somehow tainted with the dark side of the force. But it seems that this is only the case if you do use the dark side to help creat the synthetic crystal.

In the same regards, Luke used a Synthetic crystal that turned out green for his second lightsaber (first created lightsaber) after he lost his first one and hand on Bespin against Darth Vader.

In other words, RotJ Luke's lightsaber is a green synth-crystal.
