Title: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 28, 2011, 10:50:28 PM I'm proud to present my SS ed. RGB Raven review! This saber is just Magnificent! As in my other review, I'm not rating anything; just giving my opinion.
Hilt: This hilt is superior craftsmanship combined with artistic beauty! It is VERY solid and sturdy, even the claws. The machining and anodizing are well done. The rings above the pommel are raised ridges rather than grooves. The SS ed. claws look really nice and have no sharp edges or points. The SS ed. pommel also looks really nice and offsets the other horizontal lines very well. The emitter (or blade holder) on this saber is different from most other sabers, because it doesn't screw into the body. It sits in the slotted top of the body and is held in with two set screws. Fear not though, the emitter is held very securely! As is the blade, with two set screws in the emitter holding it. Also, US was able to fit all four buttons for the RGB on the regular body. Three switches are for the Red/Green/Blue LEDs and the fourth button (the Master Switch) controls power to these three switches. So, if you had the Red & Green LEDs on (making Yellow), you could turn it off that way with the Master Switch and have Yellow when you turned it back on! Below are some pics, the first of which shows the emitter removed with the blade still secured in it. (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2072/5768253121_7cbcf6fefa.jpg) (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2037/5767761557_a84f400603.jpg) Here's a couple of comparison shots between the Raven and my Dark Shock. The second pic is a good comparison between an UltraEdge blade (the Dark Shock) and a standard blade (the Raven). Please note the UltraEdge is a Midgrade and the standard is a Heavygrade. Both are Red. (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2441/5767716157_487e0554bf.jpg) (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3320/5768306875_11b5f26224.jpg) Now, after having said that.....this hilt is fairly "beefy". Meaning it's a little thicker and longer than most hilts. It doesn't bother me, in fact I like this because now I have a "Greatsaber"! Someone with small hands or a small grip though, could have difficulty wielding this saber. :-\ Blade & Color: I got a standard Heavygrade blade with this. When I first got it, I didn't think I was going to like it. After a while though, I really began to notice how nice the colors look with this blade. Their real sharp and clear, whereas the UltraEdge gives the colors a more pastel look. Don't get me wrong....I love the UltraEdge because it has a thicker-looking blade, but the colors come out better in the standard. And WOW do the colors look great!! The regular Red, Green, & Blue all look great! The mixed colors are especially nice! The Red/Blue mix to make a wonderful Violet Amethyst (swear it looks just like Mace's blade!) The Green/Blue is a very nice light blue (Arctic Blue I would say). And the Red/Green make my favorite mix.....a SPECTACULAR Yellow!! I don't mean a golden Yellow or an orangish-Yellow, but a nice pure Yellow!! I think it looks amazing on the Raven!!!! The Silver from mixing all three looks good as well. I found that on low batteries the Yellow turns orange and the Arctic Blue turns to SRD. I'm using rechargeable NiMH batteries (800 mAh, 1.2V). Here's pics of all seven colors: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Violet, Arctic Blue, and Silver (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2619/5767587243_7dd47855eb.jpg) (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2587/5767585307_6724f399e7.jpg) (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2465/5768134560_e4d47c1d0c.jpg) (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5110/5768149286_148ae88ace.jpg) (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2207/5767595513_a2ea49404f.jpg) (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3614/5767592737_f1c6cfae96.jpg) (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2162/5768146916_426e985705.jpg) Well, I hope everyone enjoyed my review!! If anyone has any questions let me know :) Once again, a BIG thanks to UltraSabers for another AWESOME saber!!!!! ;D 8) Edit: Check out my customizing on this-- http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=1440.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=1440.0) Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Darth Dexuis on May 28, 2011, 10:54:56 PM Awesome review. It looks really great in all the colours! Good choice with the RGB
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: SILVERBACK on May 29, 2011, 12:41:01 AM that is a really nice looking saber. the colors are so vibrant and they all look great with that hilt. my next saber going to have to be an rgb. just curious, how much of the blade is left after the tynes? congrats on your purchase and enjoy that baby!
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 29, 2011, 12:50:01 AM Tynes? You mean the claws or the emitter?
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: SILVERBACK on May 29, 2011, 01:04:25 AM i didnt think they were actually claws, because claws are usually curved , like what a cat has. sorry for the misuse of terminology.

RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 29, 2011, 01:42:11 AM No prob! I knew what tines were, but I wasn't sure what you meant. I guess technically you might be correct. Anyways, after the claws their is a little over 26 inches of exposed blade (36 in. blade). Hope I could help! ;D
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: SILVERBACK on May 29, 2011, 02:09:48 AM i appologize for the confusion. thanks.
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 29, 2011, 02:14:46 AM Like I said, no prob! :)

If so, I like it. Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Darth Wraith on May 29, 2011, 05:55:32 AM Marvelous Review My Brother in Darkness ;)
That is Truly a Beauty of a Saber!!!!!!! ;D My Cup Floweth Over With Envy (Drooooooollllllllll ) , got to get me ONE!!!!!!!!!! :D Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Jawaslayer4 on May 29, 2011, 07:54:12 AM That lightsaber's worth a darkside point. ::) Seriously, an awesome review. Now I'm not sure if I just want it in red or RGB. Love the yellow.
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Kaiden Shardsbane on May 29, 2011, 10:13:53 AM I actually think it looks best in Arctic or Green in these pictures.
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 29, 2011, 11:22:18 AM Thanks for the compliments guys, I appreciate it!!! ;D
@ Jawaslayer: I know, I simply LOVE the yellow!! :o Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 30, 2011, 03:45:25 AM Well, this hilt is just crying out for accent holes! Especially on the emitter, where it shows through the 3 grooves! And maybe on the claws as well, but that might be too much. I don't know...maybe I like accent holes too much! :P
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Kaiden Shardsbane on May 30, 2011, 04:58:08 AM Accent holes would be sweet, plus, with the new blade holder you could simply rotate it to hide/reveal them.
But on the claws... well, let's just say I would use Sith Sorcery to transfer you into the body of a Gungan and then ship said Gungan to see my Ghost friend if you drill into those claws. Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 30, 2011, 05:01:53 AM Yeah, you're right on both counts! ;D
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Kaiden Shardsbane on May 30, 2011, 05:06:42 AM Thank you, Brother. May the Force favor you on the raffle as well, even though that would mean less raffle sabers for me. ;)

RGB Raven Post by: Order Sixty Six on May 30, 2011, 01:02:29 PM I really like the yellow as well, best shade of yellow of any saber I've seen.
I wish US had a yellow option because that would have been my first choice for my dual sabers, I went with adegan instead but there was only an orange color disk no yellows :[ Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 30, 2011, 01:39:00 PM I really like the yellow as well, best shade of yellow of any saber I've seen. You can order Yellow, it's just a custom color right now. When you order, choose one of the mix colors (VA, AB, SRD) and write in the comments section that you want Yellow. And it only costs the same as the mix colors, an extra $5! ;DI wish US had a yellow option because that would have been my first choice for my dual sabers, I went with adegan instead but there was only an orange color disk no yellows :[ Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Order Sixty Six on May 30, 2011, 02:44:25 PM Oh cool! Thanks for the tip!
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 30, 2011, 03:03:12 PM No prob! I'm planning on getting the custom Pyrestone orange (a more reddish-orange than Fire Orange) on my next saber (hopefully a CE Prophecy). I'm also starting to really dig the Arctic Blue color from my Raven!
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on May 31, 2011, 01:19:50 PM So, I think I have a pretty good idea: My Dark Shock w/sound + vented coupler + My RGB Raven + 32" blades = Pretty awesome staff w/sound!!! ;D
Now to get the money for the coupler and blades!! :P Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Darkhorse V on May 31, 2011, 02:54:13 PM I say GO FOR IT with the accent holes. Just be careful to no make the claws too weak and lay it all out carefully. If you don't like them you can turn the blade holder / order new claws if worse comes to worse.
Then again, I'm an accent hole fan as well. My prophecies have 15 holes a piece in them! (three tiny ones where the claws attach, then the 6 hole pattern on either side of the choke point) Title: Re: SS ed. (three tiny ones where the claws attach, then the 6 hole pattern on either side of the choke point) I'll have to think about accent holes on the claws and what design I would want. I'm definitely doing the ones on the emitter! :D Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on June 01, 2011, 06:36:01 PM Well, I drilled accent holes in the emitter today at work. And I came up with a cool idea for it! Not only can I rotate the emitter to hide the holes, but I drilled a second set of holes!! I probably could have drilled 3 or 4 sets of holes, but I didn't want to take that much material out. When I get a chance, I'll post it in the Customizations section! ;D
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Darkhorse V on June 01, 2011, 06:38:15 PM Sounds awesome! Can't wait to see it!
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on June 07, 2011, 04:59:21 PM Just wanted to say once more, I LOVE this saber!!!! :o It's so freakin awesome, I don't even care that it doesn't have sound!!! ;D
Edit: I've seen quite a few RGB Ravens on wishlists! Hmmm...... ;) ;D Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: darth vulkaan on June 11, 2011, 04:17:05 AM Great review! It is my dream to get Raven
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on June 11, 2011, 04:21:32 AM Great review! It is my dream to get Raven It's DEFINITELY worth it!! ;D Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Sith Lord Marus on June 11, 2011, 05:56:55 AM I'm glad you love your's so much....just wait in a few weeks, my brother and I will post his new order that he's placing next week....picture...Dual Raven's Coupler with Obsidian Soundboard in each.... Emanating with shear power >:D Blade color includes Blazing Red with Quick Disconnect feature of a Amethyst Purple, considering his class when The Old Republic comes out will be the Inquisitor which they seem to favor a dark demented purple. But yeah and they both will be the SS edition :D He'll be making godly history with this order lol. If he doesn't I'm making his review for all to see it's glory XD
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on June 11, 2011, 12:10:01 PM WHOA!!! Awesome!!!! That's certainly not a cheap order!! ;D
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Sith Lord Marus on June 11, 2011, 02:30:03 PM Well only about 600 something, he had the extra cash from saving up for something that he decided not to go for anymore. We both saw the sale, and I bought my Dark Shock with the new soundboard goodness for way cheaper than my green shock. My bro is going to be legendary haha!
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Darth Wraith on June 11, 2011, 02:48:20 PM Thank you, Brother. May the Force favor you on the raffle as well, even though that would mean less raffle sabers for me. ;) I am making plans to get a Raven as I speak, I think I'm going to go with Normal Sized Claws, and a SS Pommel, as well as a BRAND NEW Obsidian Sound Board ;D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I haven't fully decided on yet, is whether or not to get a quick change out MLS system installed??? Oh What The Hell am I worries about ;), I just did some checking on price, and I'm looking at about $250.00 which I am Totally FINE WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) That's an Amazing Price For a Saber That has So Many Features ;D!!!!!!!!! I'm going to get the saber initially with Blazing Red (but latter on, I'm going to order an MLS unit with (a more blue than red) Violet Amethyst ;D!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and please forgive me (cause I know it's not really the place), but NICE SIG Master Shardsbane ;) (I can't take credit for that one :D lol) Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on June 11, 2011, 02:53:05 PM Sounds EPIC Lord Wraith!!! ;D 8)
Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Darth Wraith on June 11, 2011, 03:12:36 PM Sounds EPIC Lord Wraith!!! ;D 8) Thank You Brother ;D!!!!!!!! I'll be sure to post pics as soon as I get it ;) Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Darkhorse V on June 13, 2011, 08:52:46 PM As soon as they have a chance to catch up I'll have a Raven on the way too. SS edition, but I'm ordering normal claws for dueling so I don't tear up my friends' blades. I'm going Pyrestone with the quick disconnect and a Red MLS unit for those Starkiller days and going with the Obsidian sound and li-ion rechargable setup. I REALLY want an orange lit or a black, red lit AV switch (both of which they have over at TCSS), but I may have to wait for the USCSO to start up for that!
The awesome is just dripping off this saber! Title: Re: SS ed. I know that it's just a sith stalker, but the first time I saw that I thought it was the coolest concept I had seen since Maul blew our collective minds with that second blade!

Title: Re: SS ed. RGB Raven Post by: Warlock Umbra on June 14, 2011, 12:08:12 PM Don't you think those longer SS claws look a little weird? Haven't you considered purchasing a "normal" version? :) It funny you say that, cause I was gonna post something about this on here. Before I got this saber I wasn't sure I would like the longer claws (thought it might look disproportional). But after I got it and really saw it in person, I think the SS claws look great!! I think they really go well with the long hilt of this saber. Of course, this is just my opinion. Now that I'm used to these claws, the shorter ones would probably look wierd to me! ;D Title: Re: SS ed.
