Title: Easy Belt Clips
Post by: Isola815 on April 02, 2017, 02:38:48 PM
Just thought I'd share this for anyone who doesn't like to do perma-mods to their sabers but would like a belt clip without having to have a covertech wheel.

This is just a simple mod using a picture holder d-ring

Take your pommel and belt clip to the store with you to make sure you find the right size for your pommel and belt clip.

And a wire rope clamp

I used a 3mm size, again, take your pommel to the store so you can check before you buy.

Work out what direction you want it to point in before you remove the pommel and just mark it with a pencil or something else easy to clean off. Take your pommel off then lay your d-ring on top over whatever holes you need to use and put the u-bolt half of the clamp through the hole in your d-ring, going from the base of the pommel to the inside.

Hold the d-ring and u-bolt with your finger, or tape it up to make sure it doesn't fall out, then flip your pommel over and use some long nose pliers to put the rope guide part of the clamp, onto the u-bolt. FLAT PART FACING UP TOWARDS YOU. Use the long nose pliers to put the nuts onto the u-bolt and start the thread so they bite, then tighten with a deep socket and ratchet wrench.

If you want, you could also put a second nut on each side of the bolt to make sure they won't vibrate loose while dueling, or even use some thread tape or thread locker.

That's it. Simple. Done.

Clip it onto whatever belt hook you have and enjoy!

Neat.  I like covertecs, but I'll keep this in mind if I do want to do a D-ring belt suspension.

Wow this is pretty brilliant, great find! me personally I'd want to attach it a bit more permanently with screws or something, but either way its a brilliant use of some cheap and readily available hardware

Very cool. I'll have to try this sometime next time I get a more classic saber =]

nice- that's awesome.  i wanna try some smaller d rings like this too!  so far i've gone for the beefier look, a lot of those came from my dogs old collars to be honest haha.  but i've been meaning to do some small ones too, i'll probably try something like this.  thanks :)

Thanks guys! The other bonus is you can buy packs of both of these for less than the price of ONE covertech wheel. So you could do several of your sabers for the same price :)

Wow, love the simplicity of this. Sometimes the simplest approaches are the best! Thanks Isola.

I think I might try this on some thermal detonators I plan on adding to my costume

...why does my browser hate photobucket...

Cool idea, and great guide once the images load. Have a light-side point.

This is just one more reason why my next saber needs to have sound, I guess; this won't work at all for sabers with a non-vented pommel (ie, mine).
