I'm planning to purchase a certain hilt that's anodized black.  And just as the topic says, what sandpaper number is recommended so I can sand off certain areas of this anodized hilt.  I know it has to be very fine so as not to mar the surface of the hilt, but good enough to do a good job to get the anodized color off.

All suggestions are welcome as well as advice where sanding aluminum is concerned.  I've never sanded down aluminum in my life --- not even in shop class!  Cheesy

I would say something like 220 grit nice and light grit for more control but I could be wrong Or a green scrub pad like the one used for pots and pans

I used 150 on my Dominix2.  Took me about 5 min to weather the choke and the. About 12 min for the rest of the grip.  It wore all uneven as well, it's great. I was able to leave the emitter and activation area black as well.

Thanks for the replies fellas!  Points for all!

Just to be clear, I don't want to weather the hilt --- I aim to clear off specific areas of the anodized hilt.  The hilt in question is the Dark Prophecy V3 and I want it to look like this:

Then, I would use a low grit to strip the andonizing first and then go in with a super fine grit and wet sand it to take out any imperfections and smooth it out.  Be sure to tape off the areas you don't want sanded.

I did the same thing with my Ion's grip frame and followed up with deemed and polishing wheel to shine it up.
