A couple months ago I purchased two ultra sabers, one for myself and one for my girlfriend at the time. One Dark Initiate LE v3 with sound(orange blade, darkstar sound font) and one Initiate LE v3 with sound(green blade, don't remember what sound font). My Dark Initiate(go go dark side) is the one I wish to be the topic of discussion. Here's a picture of both of them

First question, what exactly is "MHS compatible"?

Second question, is it possible to add a claw and a "dark side-esque" emitter on my Dark Initiate easily? By easily, I mean very little use of power tools for instillation. If not easily, then some steps to help me achieve my goal of owning an "evil" lightsaber will be greatly appreciated.

With that said, peace is a lie...

As to your first question, "MHS Compatible" means that parts are able to be used with the Modular Hilt System (emitters, pommels, etc. that can be swapped for other MHS parts). Now, the Initiate models are only MHS compatible for the pommel. That means that you can change the pommel (bottom part) simply by unscrewing what you have on there, and then screwing on a new pommel.

Very closely related, but the Initiate and Dark Initiate do NOT have MHS emitters. Basically, no you can't swap emitters. That said, you COULD get a claw, drill a hole into your hilt, tap the hole so it will be threaded, and then screw the claw on. As long as you have access to a good drill (I recommend a drill press to be honest), and a tap set, then it's easy enough to do.

If you want to make your saber more dark and sinister looking I suggest weathering your saber. I have weathered my Dominix v3 with sand paper and it has given it a whole new look. I also used power tools to get more scratches  and create a windowed emitter on it, but you can get by well with just sand paper graded at 50 to 100 coarse to achieve a similar look by hand sanding your initiate.

Hello fellow darksider what you need to do before anything on your saber figure out if you're a quiet creepy sith or flashy then design what you want to suit your character. Very simple its the way the saber will set the mood not by the character the saber speaks for the character. By the way love that pic big boss very dark.
