Reversing colors of an MLS unit with FoC

I just ordered an Adegan Silver MLS with Blue flash and this got me thinking.

Is it possible to cut the wires, install some connectors, and switch the two wires for the FoC and the regular color? Then I could have a reversed MLS unit, which is blue with a silver FoC? Whenever I want to reverse it, I just open the saber and switch the wires.

Is this posssible? I don't want to fry the LED and I suspect the two wires may not be designed to get the same amount of current.

If you cut the wires below the resistors, you will not harm the LED.  If you are running a buck puck, I don't see a problem either.

In theory it's a great idea but remember there are little play with these wires I would leave as is because you could end up damaging the saber instead.

Actually, it is not a theory.  I have done this before.

Excellent. I have ordered my new saber with the quick disconnect, so if the saber has enough room, it should make it even easier. I could just get some matching JST connectors from a hobby store and install a reversed wire between the two parts by simply clicking them together.

The saber is an Archon V2, so the space might be too tight, but a little MHS extender or choke should fix this. For a saber with a longer main body and a longer way from the button to the MLS it could probably be done without adding any extenders.

I've got an obsidian reaper with a buckpuck, no FoC, no quick disconnect. If I were to order a new MLS with the FoC, would there be any problems with just swapping them out? Obviously I'd have to re-solder but that's not a problem.

The only problem would be if they left the FOC wire accessible.  I have seen this question before and the guy that was trying to do it could not find his FOC wire.  I would proceed with caution on this one.

Hmmm...I shall carefully take a look when I get a chance. If I'd ordered it a day later I could have gotten FoC for $5
