Aaaarggggh!!!

No, I didn't just cut some vital organs off with my lightsaber; though I wish I COULD at this point! I have got a SERIOUS problem though, which is finding boots to FIT ME!

I've been looking at Jedi Robe website and they do FOUR styles of boots, at very reasonable prices, but there's a snag; the won't fit! I am CURSED with enormous legs (probably due to the Jabba the Hutt sized torso above) and I have 20 INCH CALVES! Sad to say, I'm take a UK size 10 (not sure what that is in US sizes, sorry) and the boots I've seen ONLY go up to 16.5 inches at the calf.

Honestly, I feel like chopping my legs off at this point. Cry

I don't suppose anyone has any ideas as to how to solve my boot problem; or good places/styles of boots to get.

If you lived in the US, I'd say try out a Renaissance Faire, as they'll generally have a wide variety of boots/sizes that you could try before you buy.

i got the funtasma captian boots off amazon in the 10/11 size wich is their large and they hfit 18 inch calf they were like 39 bucks id say get them and take the zipper out and make 3 straps to go around top mid and ankle of the boot. its alot eaiser to cut up a 39 dollar pair of boots than a pair of nice ones. i know the custom ones done at the ren fair that comes to charlotte nc  start at 450 bucks a pair

True - but, as I have said elsewhere, a $39 pair of boots are going to have more issues.

Most of the Renaissance manufacturers of boots will offer resoling/repairs.

A $39 pair of boots will have issues with the soles, the heels...

A good pair of boots, while costly, will with proper care last for quite awhile.  My wife has some that are 10+ years old, and have needed one resoling in that time.

I would say invest in a good pair.

The other alternative might be for good leather shoes with no laces, and then a leather boot cover that would wrap around your calves and fit over the top of the shoe, making it just LOOK like you're wearing boots.

Two thoughts. If you have cash to burn, I found a site called motorcowboy.com. They sell custom made Star Wars boots made to your exact measurements. The down side is they are expensive.

Another idea is to use low boots that fit good and make some sort of gater or legging. They can be leather or cloth. With enough buckles and sraps, they should look Star Wars-y enough.

both interesting ideas, thanks.

i have some biker boots listed on my costume thread, and I've asked the vendor what their measurements are. Failing that though, I'll keep all this stuff in mind.

yea my suggestion was a budget conscious solution but if you will be trooping  ie doing  events with the 501st /rebel legion  alot then a good set of boots will be a necessity but if you are just going to  do  a couple conventions a year then the cheap way would prob be best for your needs

Gaiters can make for a boot-look while being much less difficult to find.   Smiley

YES!!!

Finally someone else talks about gaiters!

I've been trying to emphasize gaiters on-end but to no avail.
I bought 2 custom leather gaiters for $60 total.  Combined with cheap loafers they make an excellent alternative to boots.

Yeah, I think gaiters are underrated. However, I think the best way to make them look good is to make them look like gaiters rather than an extention of the boot. They are never going to look seamless or like a tall boot, no matter how hard you try. But if you embrace the gaiter for what it is and make it stand out as a gaiter, then they can look very cool. Make them utility looking, like they have a purpose, and they fit well into a Star Wars costume nicely.

Start with locals that already cosplay in your immediate zone.

There are quite a few cosplayers with the same sort of sizing issues, they may be able to help with vendors or sources of supply  Smiley

Hopefully this helps.
