Rules...yes there are rules for this thread...due to the endless nature of the Jedi vs sith debate we are going to apply a rule for this thread...

1.  When posting, only note the aspects you like about the Jedi or sith...at no point will we make a positive point for one by disparaging the other.

Jedi

I favor the Jedi.

The idea of being a Force using knight, monk, scholar, consular, etc. is appealing to me.

The combined vision of samurai, temple servitor, and mediator is a perfect storm of service and responsibility that fits me at this point in life.

Jedi

They're an admirable order of people. They bring out the best in sentient behaviors. They stand for everything that is right with "humanity". And their teachings and philosophy, psychologically, seem very healthy.
Plus they get all the best lightsaber colors Cheesy

I agree with these thoughts...I had not thought about the colors...but colors do not dictate a faction do they?

I also appreciate the pinnacle that the Jedi reach for.

SITH!!

I like their passion, drive, focus, strength, and determination to achieve their goals; whatever the cost!

Also I think they have extremely cool costumes; BLACK is always cool, their sabers are always badass and unique, and of course RED BLADES RULE!!!!! )Cheesy *evil grin*

*Off topic for a second*

Only in the movies and most of the games. Jedi avoid red because it is associated with the Sith and the Sith have red because it a synthesized crystal more attuned to the darkside. It becomes red due to the forging process.
In books and the EU, every now and then some jedi would use red and some sith would use blue or purple or something.

JEDI

For all of the above mentioned reasons and also, I like the idea of the Padawans. It is a great feeling to be able to mold a young man or woman into a productive member of a group. To know that the person who is now my equal and partner was taught by me has a type of pride that cannot be achieved any other way.

The Order is also very much on line with a fraternity I belong to. I see the Jedi Order as a brotherhood. It makes me feel good to be in the company of other men, who are not related to me, but who treat eachother as brothers. It is a wonderful relationship that is very much needed in today's world.

Wonderful thread idea, Rel. Smiley

Sith

Their drive and unwillingness to let anyone stand in their way of achieving a goal is unparalleled. They allow themselves to wield power that others would not dare to and fuel such power with limitless passion. I admire their strength and determination, as well as their general lack of fear. Also, considering that the Sith consistently turn on each other, this makes them extremely alert and focused, forcing them to be ready for anything at any time.

And Arkanus is right...they simply have badass sabers and clothing.

SITH

Good and evil is a matter of perspective. While viewed by most of the Galaxy as 'evil', the Sith don't necessarily view themselves as such. The Sith are about survival. By their very nature, they are out for themselves. They have to fight for power. Only the best attain this power. The way they handle apprenticeships is interesting. An apprentice proves they have surpassed their master by defeating (and killing) them. This usually ensures that each generation of sith is stronger than the last.

On a more personal level...
I like that we aren't bound by many rules. We have FREEDOM. We can express our emotions, positive and negative ones. We are allowed to follow our own paths. Make choices that a Jedi, for example, could not.
Not to mention red sabers are pretty cool looking. Cheesy

Good thoughts, welcome to the forum.  You are fairly new so this argument/debate may be new to you but it is old hat among us lol.  In this particular thread we are just noting positive thoughts.  So we need to avoid name calling or this is better because we can do this and they can't sort of comments or we will fall back into same arguments.

Your subtle thought of "Make choices that a Jedi, for example, could not" seems harmless but it draws in a comment from the other side and then before you know it...a full on mudslinging fight  Smiley

But no worries your thoughts are welcome just as you are, we are all friends here  Smiley

Well, hmmmm...

JEDI
I guess it fits my personality best considering my career choice which is public service & risking life to save a life.  I do like the focus of the Sith & using their passion, but I have been & always will be someone that will run into places that everyone else is running out of.  Strength & service, yep, JEDI for me.

I guess I need to change my quotes & add some more.  Oh well, I must go "Concentra-aaaaaaaa-ate"!

SITH!  The raw energy, the determination, the power!  And like it or not the dark side is more powerful.  That's why so many are corrupted.

Going back on what Rel said, we should try not to do "this side is better than that side" sort of statements. There is a thread to kinda do the back and forth though haha. Id say more powerful is an opinionated thing. More aggressive would be a more objective way of putting it Smiley.

Is it possible to say Grey Jedi?
Whilst I enjoy the fraternity and their goals to accomplish as much good as possible in the universe I feel that Jedi philosophy is often fearful of the power that the Dark side offers. The idea of complete separation is also one I am not a fan of but both sides have that in varying degrees. The way a Jedi looks and appears has its merits too: you are given the garb of an exclusive group of warrior-priests that are there to perform a duty to the universe.

I would say, based upon your other thought regarding the Force and sith/Jedi that you would be a perfect candidate for Gray...they are becoming legion  Smiley
